Hamilton vs OKC GDT

Post by 60WinTim »

Rubio out. No Pek or KG. Yet, the Wolves have kept it a little bit interesting.

Another nice game for Hamilton. A little crow for Alex?

One of the worst things about being young and bad? Refs don't give a shit!

Lorenzo Brown might have just earned some more minutes in the next game... He hit a long 2-pointer to close out the game!

Favorite laugh line of the night from Jim Petersen: "Mo Williams kept this team afloat when Ricky was out." I guess dead bodies float.

This is the most pathetic game thread in the hostory of the Twolves. Way to go Flip. I had to go to ESPN and make sure they played. Dieng 21 points. Anyonwe know why Ricky was out?

I can't believe I watched this moribund team tonight, but hey, I'm loyal:

- J-Pete called Hamilton the Center version of Robbie Hummel. I think that's a great analogy. Neither will carry you, but they have a very high BB IQ and enough skill to be able to plug them in and they won't hurt you. He won't solve any of our problems up front, but he's a good, smart activity guy to have as a cheap 4th or 5th big.

- Cam made a point in the other thread about how much more effective Hamilton looks compared to Payne....and they are the same age! That is scary. I'll give Payne some time, but he really does look absolutely lost out there, especially on defense. For whatever gifts he has athletically, he gives up in terms of BBIQ and general feel for the game.

- Gorgui had a very good game offensively - one of his best of the season - but once again got pushed around inside and made Enes Kanter look like Hakeem. He simply can't guard people on the interior. He played hard tonight, but simply lacks the strength and discipline (leaves his feet too damn much) to stop anything in the paint.

- Rubio keeps looking for his jumper....and not finding it. I like how Penberthy was recently quoted as saying, "it will get worse before it gets better". Yeah, right Mike - you sound like a consultant. It looks like he's been working with Wiggins too, who is now shooting 17% from beyond the arc since February. As a team, we just get worse and worse when it comes to shooting the ball. It's unbelievable how outgunned we are night in and night out from beyond the arc.

- They panned to our bench a few times throughout the game and it looked like the most depressed group of people on the planet. I think KG was a brief sugar high. These guys don't look like they enjoy their jobs right now.

- Shockingly, Rubio got hurt.

Yes, Hamilton has looked "smarter" than Payne, but Hamilton played in Europe a couple years ago (hmm... just like Robbie!), D-League last year, and a couple dozen NBA games to boot. Hopefully this end-of-season run for Payne helps prepare him for next year.

And yeah, it's a lame thread. I popped on here in the 4th quarter, and no thread existed, so I figured, what the hell?

I watched the whole game, I feel like I should have been paid to do so :)

Payne is exactly the player I thought he'd be, lost on Defense at times with a very high upside. I will continue that sentiment, if and that's a huge if he puts it together he could be really good.

Hamilton reminds me more of Mark Madsen then a center version of Hummel. I actually like the way Hamilton gives max effort its sad when he is one of the reasons your tuning into a game.

Damn, I'm going to pick on you tonight. First on Payne. Don't play both sides of the fence, which you like to do. If you're going to give him some time, give him some time. If you think he's lost out there, then say that. But don't say one before saying the other.

Regarding Gorgui. You're not wrong. But how many times do you have to rip the guy for the same thing? Nothing has changed since the last time you went on this rant, which was probably right after the last game.

Can't believe you didn't rip Zach tonight, so I guess I have to give you credit for that. But another of your favorite whipping boys (Andrew) shot poorly tonight, so I'm glad you got your shot in on him. But why never KMart? He was terrible again tonight but somehow he always avoids your wrath. I'm sure there's a stat out there that would indicate how bad he's been from behind the arch lately too.
