What now?
I am really unsure what happens now. Do we still trade Love before the season? Are there trades we could make to make us better with or without Love? Do we bother trading for vets, or do we simply bottom out again and wait for young guys? I am very interested to see what this team does. Personally, I lose complete interest in this team if they choose a complete rebuild strategy, thus I hope they choose a different path.
I guess I just wait and see.

Re: What now?
The number of potential trade partners for Love expands in July -- those teams will now have the cap space to take more salary in than they send out. I will be mildly surprised if we don't trade Love before training camp starts, and I suspect he will be traded much sooner.
Flip has his check list of things he needs in return for Love. And #1 has got to be a reasonable starting PF to take Love's place. And high on the list is probably cap relief, which is why we've seen Martin and Barea mentioned in trade rumors. And if we are trading Martin, we better be getting a reasonable SG back as well (e.g. Klay).
While we need to make the best deal for us, I sure hope Love is sent to an Eastern conference team...

Anything they do short of not re-signing Ricky, cannot be considered a rebuild. They already have significant young talent in RIcky, Dieng, Bazz (?), and now Lavine and GR3. That is a pretty good starting point if you ask me. If they move Love, they are likely keeping Pek at that point.

I am DESPERATELY hoping for Lebron to go back home to Cleveland so they give us Wiggins for Love
PG-Rubio
SG-Lavine
SF-Wiggins
oh my god easily the most potential we've had on the perimeter in franchise history

I've thought about this countless times. Would be ridiculous potential-wise.
Lakers also are back in the mix for me, even though I really don't wanna see Love in So Cal. S/T of Gasol + Randle and whatever else we can get. Maybe dump Budinger and Mbah a Moute off on them. As soon as Randle slipped, I knew they would take him. Was a top-five player in the draft for me. Big potential even though some don't think so. We'd get a "win now" player in Gasol too.

Add Dieng up front and that's a nice young nucleus.BloopOracle wrote:I am DESPERATELY hoping for Lebron to go back home to Cleveland so they give us Wiggins for Love

Cam,you bring up a good point. I believe we can send a package deal necessary for the Lakers to bite on this one. If we can get Pau and Randle for a Love and Fillers...I would be beside myself. I believe Rubio, Pau would be a great fit, plus adding Randle...I have hopes he will be a All-Star level PF
Would also be interested in letting Pek go for the right price. Would MIL be willing to let the Greek Freak go for Pek? LOL

Re: What now?
I think it's funny now that there's a name to the pick suddenly the Lakers are in play. Randle always in play to go 6 or 7. If someone pre-draft suggested pau and #7 for Love they would have been laughed out of the thread.
What's changed? The value is more concrete but it's no higher than the value we imagined before the draft.

S/T Pau Gasol + Julius Randle >>> Klay Thompson + David Lee
I talked about a Gasol + 2014 1st trade how many weeks (or months) before the draft?? It's not phenomenal value, but it's better than anything that's been rumored. Plus I have a draft crush on Randle. I think he's gonna be damn good.
Re: What now?
A Randle in hand is worth 2 in the bush.
The best thing that can happen to Minnesota right now is that Melo returns to New York and Bron chooses Miami or Cleveland. Then Love becomes the premium piece that Chicago, Houston, Golden State, and many others will fight for. Flip has a great handle on this.
