Re: Draft Grades
Worst case for LaVine is Gerald Green. Guy who shows brilliance every once in a while for seven years while he floats from one team to another. Until a Spurs assistant gets ahold of him and makes him scratch some of his high potential.

Both are around the same size. Can handle the ball and initiate the offense. Play with a certain flair and Can shoot the long ball and excellent in transition. Manu is much better at slashing and finishing and one of the smartest players in the league.
Lavine can develop into a slasher and finisher as he has the speed, ball handling and athletic ability but he is not there yet. Both has what it takes to be good defenders. I think he fits and grow nicrly with rubio as his pg.
Worse case for lavine eould be alexey shved
I'm guessing Manu wasn't there yet at 19 either!
As for Shved, he's a 1 and when he was used as a 1 his rookie season we were all very excited about his upside. When Rubio came back and they moved him to the 2 playing mostly off the ball he faltered terribly. I hope Flip uses him as Rubio's backup this season so we can see if his rookie season was a fluke or did other teams just figure him out.

LaVine cleared it up for me. Hope he's not lying in what he says. http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/264950741.html#gSqCmpjsxmPA9OLT.97
"You know."
U-NO could be his nickname.

Even then, how much did they play him with Rubio? That was one thing I was looking forward to seeing. Shved mainly being a backup PG, but getting some minutes with Rubio. Instead we saw JJ with Rubio. And then they threw Shved at the 3 spot a lot, which didn't help matters.
Re: Draft Grades
Flip said in the PC he sees Shved as a pg and want to see him play there not at SG. I'm not holding out hope but I agree with everyone that's been wanting him at PG and with Flip his chance to be a worthwhile player is at PG where he gets to use his natural talents there.
Also about those eurostash guys Flip said 2 of them are on track for the NBA but not yet. See the overseas thread for more info.

Re: Draft Grades
We have Jordan Morgan and Brady Heslip joining the Summer League team. Morgan's nothing special (undersized big, defense and rebounding). Heslip can shoot the long ball, though. Too bad he's barely taller than J.J. Barea. Oh well. At least we'll see him make it rain.

Re: Draft Grades
Morgan seems like a solid guy that will come in do what you want him too and has familiarity with one of the guys you already have. That's worth having around in the SL where its a few practices etc and then you just go ball. Plus he is used to playing small ball which is what tends to be more effective in SL that's pretty guard oriented.

I would have much rather had Flip get my guy Pat Young. Much better athlete, much stronger body. If nothing else, I just like seeing him dive for loose balls that he has close to no shot at getting. He plays with his heart, high motor. Unfortunately, he went to the Pelicans and I can see him sticking there.
Re: Draft Grades
Kiwi-- I'm not bothered about selling the other two 2nd rounders for cash as I think this will be put to good use.
Can we amnesty JJ with it?
