Steamer

Post by mjs34 »

Set to sign with Pelicans for 2.7 mil. Apparently they said 10 teams were interested in him (which likely means 5), but seems odd since Flip just shopped him and said nobody was interested. Might have been nice to hold on to him till the 17th (deadline on his guarantee I believe) just in case we don't re-sign Pek.

Speaking of Pek, I am surprised we haven't heard anything. I am thinking the 12 mil guess by Zgoda was a little high, or I think Pek would have accepted already.

I'm actually going to miss Stiemer. He proved he should be nowhere near the starting line-up last year but he was the guy on the squad who could draw techs out of opposing players. Now that he's gone the Wolves don't have anyone on the squad who can do that and personally those kind of players make the game more fun to watch.

We will definitely miss his toughness on this squad.

No, I didn't forget anything. He was the only guy on our team last year that stood up for the other players. Everyone else just stands around and watches the opponent take cheap shots at guys like Rubio. Steimsma would dish it right back out. I am going to miss that. Pek is such a pvssy when it comes to things like that. It is kind of embarrassing.

Volans makes a good point Steimer was one guy that was able to get under guy's skin and all that stuff, but I think he was pretty replaceable in general. I think he was worth his salary and obviously at least one team actually paid him more than the Wolves opted out at, but I think if we end up with Chris Johnson he isn't going to be significantly worse overall. I think it would be handy to find another solid big when the dust all settles.

EDIT: Pek shouldn't be getting into those scuffles. He is too important of a player to get kicked out for that crap. In fact I think one of the things thats a positive about him is the way he plays is very physical he rarely gets caught up in all that. Its a good thing. Like i said before it would be nice to find a solid vet big that isn't afraid to go out and play some ball. There has to be some guys out there for the minimum when all is said and done that are decent enough to be a 13-15 bench guy.

As for a teammate that sticks up for players and dishes it right back out, I look at Cunningham and Brewer being little fireballs in their own right. Then if Ricky gets cheapshotted you already know his best buddy DWill will come to the rescue lol. Steamer just didn't care about the consequences of his actions and it made for entertaining retaliation. We don't need Pek or Love pushing people around like that. We need them in the game getting rebounds and buckets.
