Who starts at Power Forward
Who starts at Power Forward
I'm really struggling to work out who starts at the 4 on opening night.
Do we go for a young, upside guy like Vonleh who can rebound and somewhat stretch the floor?
Do we play small ball and start RoCo, allowing Wigs to play the 3 and Okogie or Culver to start?
Do we go with a defensive player like Bell to help KAT out on that end on the floor?
Do we go with a young, versatile scorer in KBD?
Do we go back to starting Gorgui Dieng and increasing his trade value?

Re: Who starts at Power Forward
I voted vonleh. He brings rebounding and defense. Has been a regular starter for the blazers a few years back. Can hit a 3 and hopefully worked on that this off season.
I personally think he might be a surprise for us this season.

Re: Who starts at Power Forward
I am surprised this poll didn't include Jake Layman. Though, depending on whether Culver is ready to start, then I'd like to see a lineup of KAT, Covington, Culver, Wiggins and whomever at point guard. If Culver isn't ready to start, then I'd like to see Layman, Bell and Vonleh battle it out for the 4 spot with Cov at the 3
Re: Who starts at Power Forward
I voted Vonleh but I wonder if they may even tinker with adjusting starting lineups based on matchups. It may also depend on if there is another wing/perimeter player that's actually a better player than Vonleh is.

I thought Who was on first?
Re: Who starts at Power Forward
Who ends up starting will, of course, depend on who shines in preseason camp. Based on what Rosas has said, it would seem the Wolves are leaning towards starting Covington but that probably depends on whether Culver or Okogie shows he can step in as a starting wing with Wiggins.
I interpreted the poll to ask who we think SHOULD start, not who WILL start. My answer is this. The team's starting PF should be the best rebounder and interior defender. Those are two things we were terrible at last season. We were one of the League's worst rebounding teams overall and 2nd or 3rd worst defensive rebounding teams. And that's all in spite of KAT's overall stellar rebounding numbers. It shows how poorly KAT's teammates rebounded last season. Given the huge need for improved rebounding, Layman makes no sense as a starting PF and he's better be really good in other phases of the game to get significant playing time. Covington would also be a poor fit at PF from a rebounding perspective. The guys who I'd have at the tope of my list would be Vonleh, Bell and Gorgui.

Cov or vonleh depending on match ups.
I think we will limit covs minutes this year, kinda load management.
Id like culver on the 2nd unit to initiate offense and let him grow in that role.
I think we could see layman starting at sf.
Teague
Wiggs
Layman
Covington
Kat.
However vonleh is the guy i want to play well to force Saunders' hand.

That lineup of Teague, Wiggins, Layman, Covington and KAT would be a terrible rebounding team - even worse that last season, which is hard to believe. Rebounding is so important because it determines the numbers possessions and shot opportunities.
I like your second lineup. That's the one I'd most like to see. Vonleh would help a lot on the boards and has a bit of an offensive game as well. He's the Wolves most intriguing off-season free agent signing. If the Wolves carefully manage Covington's minutes (as they should), then Culver, Okogie and/or Layman should get a good opportunity to show what they can do.
Depending on how well the team is doing mid-season, I'd like to see us trade Covington and Teague for 1st round picks and/or young high-upside players.

Re: Who starts at Power Forward
My lineup would be
C Towns
PF Covington
SF Layman
SG Wiggins (before he inevitably gets pushed out for Culver)
PG Teague (before he gets dealt too)
Layman above the others simply because we need Layman to be our best signing since he'll be here for 3 years. The downside to high upside guys on 1 year deals is that if Rosas is so fixated on flexibility, it doesn't benefit us for the Vonlehs and Bells of the world to succeed here. All it would show is that we can actually develop players, but in turn, guys like Layman, Culver, Nowell and Reid are the guys whose development would benefit us the most.

Re: Who starts at Power Forward
I'll go with Vonleh. There's only one ball to shoot. Maybe we'll be sneaky good this year? One's salary does not equal productivity. I'm upping my win total to 42!
