Greetings from Asbury Park!

Man I'm happy for him. At least someone from Jelly Fam made it to the league. I'm very bullish on what he could be and He, Culver and Nowell will be a great litmus test to see how Rosas can get guys developed here.

Mmmm, not sure why we had to do it now vs. forcing him to prove himself more in the G-League. Wouldn't we have still held his rights and had the ability to do this at a later date?

I like Naz, but personally think he's a bad fit for our team. KAT can shoot, score, rebound, and pass, but struggles with defense. Naz can shoot, score, and pass, but struggles even more with defense and rebounding.

That being said, he's young and cheap and won't see minutes this year anyway with Dieng, Bell, and Vonleh way ahead of him in the rotation.

I generally agree with you. My guess is they like him a lot and if you can sign him for 4 years at super cheap you do it instead of him playing out his 2-way deal and becoming a RFA and in theory could obtain more money next offseason.

Also no max days he can be with the NBA squad and he can still play G-League

Also now we have 2 2- way contracts available.

We'll see how it plays out

I was ok if he stayed on the2way deal. As I said in another thread having him locked in 4 years for basically peanuts is pretty hard to argue with. If he isn't still motivated to be good then he won't be worth having around and will/would be gone in a year or 2 regardless of what contract he signed. I'm guessing he spends plenty of time getting minutes in Iowa developing.

How good Naz becomes will be tied to how he improves his body, can he grow as a defender, and if he can continue to shoot effectively from the perimeter. I think he's capable of growing in all three aspects, but even if he doesn't, it won't be long before he's more playable than some of the other bigs on the team.

Smart move by Rosas. I was actually a bit skeptical of the Reid signing on draft night. But I was really impressed by his talent in summer league. Locking him in on such a cheap deal makes a lot of sense to me.

Now let's sign Martin to one of our two-way deals.

I think it's a good move because of his potential to develop for us, but I like it just as much for the fact that it's a super flexible trade chip. I haven't seen that mentioned. With only the first year guaranteed, starting next offseason we can include him in a trade where the other team is trying cut salary.

It's a win win as I see at. If he's good, we have an excellent value for 3 more years, but if he sucks we have the great flexibility of the unguaranteed contract.

I like the move a lot, seems like a guy with plenty of headroom. I was actually hoping they would do this. Now it's up to him and the development guys.
