I feel like my early Bayless bashing is now justified.
Thanks monster.

I am a big Tyus fan, but he took a bit of a step back last year after a couple nice seasons of steady improvement.
Tyus finished up April with a 17.0 A/T ratio, I'd say he finished strong!

He also shot 30% from 3 and carried under a 15% usage rate in April. When you don't look to score, you aren't going to turn the ball over a ton. He's a great caretaker PG, but needs creators and scorers around him. That's why he was paired often with Crawford (the year before last) or Rose - those guys would ultimately make plays and take shots when something needed to be created.
I don't know...knowing our luck, he'll suddenly find his shooting stroke in Memphis and become an elite backup worth every penny of his salary and then some. Wouldn't be surprised in the least.

Jon K said on his podcast said the people from other teams said whether to match on Tyus is a tough decision. He said a big thing a couple of the brought up is they have nobody signed at the position beyond this year if he leaves. Jon later pointed out that the Wolves tried to move up to get Garland and also went after Russell. It's not like they have been looking at Tyus as some sneaky future starter or something.
Wolfson has been reporting the deadline is tonight at 11pm central. I don't know if that's the case or not but regardless we will know Whether they will match a few hours. I'm honest I'm nervous that they will match and it will be a mistake but if they do I will be happy to have him back...but still think we overpaid to keep him. Ugh

Britt thinks rosas might not match.

Is Tyus Jones the point guard Minnesota wants for the next three years? He doesn't fit their proposed switch-heavy defensive schemes--opponents will work the switches to iso him on a large wing. I genuinely like his court IQ + poise but that offer feels like top $ for him.

The timberwolves have officially declined the offer

Sigh...I've taken this a bit harder than expected...and probably should...even though I feel strongly it's the right decision.

3/28 was tough for us to match.
But i think we could have matched it if kat or saunders wanted him bad enough.
He joins a nice up and coming team with a chance for minutes (unless melton beats him out).

The Minnesota Timberwolves are declining to match the Memphis Grizzlies' three-year, $28M offer sheet for restricted free agent guard Tyus Jones, league sources tell ESPN.

Among reasons for not matching on Jones: Minnesota is pursuing max cap space in 2020 free agency. Without space this summer, Wolves were a finalist for D'Angelo Russell. They'll work to get back into market with real flexibility next year.
2020 isn't exactly a great class for free agents.

Still great to have cap space, can always absorb contracts and obtain future assets in the process.
