Re: Wolves Summer League Thread
I'm in the Naz Reid camp. We may have found a guy who can contribute and develop at the same time.
Re: Wolves Summer League Thread
Just to clarify, Naz Reid has already signed a two-way contract with the Wolves. So we have one two-way contract left, which I assume will not be Terrell...
Re: Wolves Summer League Thread
One thing to remember about 2-way players is that after the first season the qualifying offer to be a restricted FA is basically just another 2-way contract. To sign away a restricted FA it has to be at least a 2 year deal. So basically some team if they want to sign a restricted FA that was a 2 way has to give them a 2 year deal and hope the other team does t match it. This is while the guy only played a handful of games. This scenario actually played out with Tyrone Wallace. The Pelicans signed hi. To an offer sheet and somewhat surprisingly (Clippers didn't have a lot of roster spots and were up against the tax) ended up matching the deal.
So really the Wolves likely have Naz locked in for this year and at least another year for dirt cheap. The idea of signing him to a multi year deal now to get him locked in for cheap makes sense but the reality is they can likely lock him up for cheap later also. The problem can come when you want to have the guy on your regular season roster then the player has some leverage like in the Danuel House situation last year for the Rockets. They wanted to lock him in really cheap with non-guarantees. He ended up with a nice 3 year 11 million dollar contract this summer which was better than what the Rockets were offering during last season but not exactly a ton of money if he is a legit NBA rotation player.
So really I think it makes sense to keep Naz Reid on a 2-way deal and reward him with and NBA contract when he either deserves it or that what needs to happen to retain his services. He can make a nice amount of money (relatively speaking) this year as a 2 way player and it counts towards NBA service time which adds a lot of value if you can make it to that next level just as a vet min guy. Keep in mind he is likely going to make 6 figures playing basketball for an NBA-franchise as opposed to going to school. Not too shabby.

Welp the championship is a blowout early for the Grizzlies.
I don't know if Tyrell could guard a paper bag today

Re: Wolves Summer League Thread
This broadcast crew has been terrible with getting their facts straight the past 2 games.
Not exactly a good start for the Wolves. KBD looking meh. Clarke looking like the real deal.

Re: Wolves Summer League Thread
You see the weaknesses of Ried against better competition he is struggling getting a shot off
Re: Wolves Summer League Thread
Tyrell is unwatchable and Ried is sucking real bad
Re: Wolves Summer League Thread
This is a tough one to watch nobody outside of Murphy and brown playing well.
Kbd struggling again.
I hope this is the last time I have to watch Tyrell play basketball.
And the wolves only down 14 because of grayson Allen shooting terrible shots
