I was at the Rio playing cards for Thursday's earthquake. Crazy feeling, never experienced that before. Was staying at the Venetian and really felt the 2nd one. I don't know how Californians do it!
Main event? You still in?
Not the main event, I'm a causal piker player. I'll play at Canterbury here and there. I went out there to play in some lower buy-in qualifier/satellite tournaments for the main, but didn't do well. I have a couple good friends who I was out there with that played the main, one if which is still in, day 3 tomorrow. They bought in directly, both are in a slightly higher tax bracket then I am;). I'm hoping I'll be going out in a week to watch the final table! The scene at The Rio is insane!
Ya that's sweet man. Massive bucket list item for me is to play in the main. I play in 250$ and lower events, I'm getting better (picked up my 1st physical trophy today) but I don't have 10k to burn to play in the main.
Good luck to your buddy hope he cashes and then runs deep
Thanks Geek, that's around my price range also, $250-500 range. Anything lower the structure is too quick. Congrats on the trophy! The main is a bucket list of mine also, great tournament and structure. The WSOP made a lot of changes this year. Added a lot of lower buy in tournaments with better structure, although I don't think the pros more serious players are happy but the number are way up this year in general at the WSOP. Hopefully we'll both get a chance to play the main one of these year.
Side note - the main structure is so good, both of my friends elected to buy-in at the start of day 2 to avoid the crazy, amateurish play early on.
