Two guys who still have a long ways to go before they would be considered all-stars let alone franchise cornerstones. Pretty much all of those picks will be bad because they are from markets that can rebuild on the fly with the best of them because of the management and markets. They're gonna have to find a lot of diamonds in the rough with those picks to recover.
On this note, anyone else think Tatum is the most overrated player in NBA? He has been talked about the past 2 years as "untouchable", even as it pertained to acquiring AD. While I think he is a good player, he is statistically pretty underwhelming for how he is discussed.
I hope Mia trades some good assets to get him - then the fight countdown will begin - My money is on Paul beating Jimmy's ass within a month of arriving

Tatum has only been in the League two years and he's widely regarded as a very good player already. To the extent the Celtics have considered him "untouchable," it isn't just based on how well he's played to date; it's also based on his potential as a very young player only two years into his NBA career. There isn't a player on the Wolves roster, other than KAT, I wouldn't trade to get Tatum. The Sixers certainly wish they had him. :)
And the word untouchable isn't quite accurate. Most reports had the Celtics willing to trade Tatum in a package of AD. As it turns out, AD preferred the allure of LA to the charm of New England and the Celtics.

Well, the Celtics have finished 1st, 2nd and 4th in the East the past three sessions, winning between 49 and 55 games. So I'd say they've done pretty well. And they still have all their own picks plus incoming first rounders in 2020 from Memphis and Milwaukee. Those incoming picks are protected initially but then become unprotected. The Celtics also have some incoming 2nd rounders in the next few years.
I just wish we had a front office as effective and successful as the Celtics under Danny Ainge.
Bingo! I get you can argue Ainge's was a little passive with his assets. But I don't blame him for not pulling the trigger on Kawhi, some bad luck also, who knew Kyrie was such a flake, he still made a good trade even if it was only two years of him. Injuries derailed 2 legit title shots for them.

I'm not sure, after Jimmy Butler, that CP3 would mesh well with our young guys from an morale standpoint or from a KAT timeline standpoint (CP3 would become a FA around the same time as KAT, and I'm assuming we'd want to have found KAT a long-term co-star of the future by then).
Chris Paul makes players better but he is also a bit of dick too. Sam Cassell is and interesting parallel. Remember the Wolves basically dumped him because was becoming a bit of a problem (or that's what I remember being reported) and Chris Paul would likely be unhappy being here from the start and that contract...yikes. We got Sam Cassell in a stroke of genius dumped an injured highly paid PG in Brandon. There will be greater costs for adding Chris Paul.

I guess the key is what is our longterm direction? If it is getting DLO this would make it harder to acquire him in the future.
The DLO ship has sailed. That's not going to happen. So it's not DLO or Chris Paul. The question is who (other than DLO) will be the Wolves PG of the future after Teague is traded or his contract expires the end of this season? Maybe there will be some really good PG prospects in next year's draft. Maybe the Wolves can find a path to trading for the Spurs Derrick White or Djounte Murray. Perhaps there are other young, high upside PGs currently in the NBA who the Wolves can acquire via trade between the rest of this summer and next summer.
