Who do the Wolves cut?
Who do the Wolves cut?
Who gets the axe after the preseason is over? I expect Paschall to get cut and Garzilla gets his two-way. I think I've seen Lip saying the same thing. Paschall seems to have lost his love of the game, and Garza has been a lot better than I expected -- who knew he could shoot like that (you all probably did, but I sure didn't)!

Re: Who do the Wolves cut?
There's two different ways to answer this question. There's what I think will happen and what I want to happen.
I think Minnesota will keep what they currently have in place with Nathan Knight and Austin Rivers rounding out their roster, and Eric Paschall and A.J. Lawson staying on their two-way contracts. Perhaps they open a two-way spot for Luka Garza based on his inspiring play and the comments made by Chris Finch.
What I want to happen is a little bit different. Having seen everything I've seen over the summer and preseason, I'd keep Knight and Rivers on their current deals, but I'd waive Paschall and Lawson. I noted it in the first preseason game thread, but Paschall looked clunky, slow, and disinterested. I also didn't see much to excite me about Lawson, however, I think he'd be worth signing to the G-League team in Iowa. I'd instead sign Mac McClung and Garza to two-way deals and run with that roster before re-evaluating near the trade deadline.
What would be interesting is if Minnesota kept Knight and waived Rivers opening up a roster spot that they could use to sign Garza to a multi-year, non-guaranteed deal at the minimum. I think that could be a creative way of retaining NBA talent for cheap and finding a future replacement for Naz Reid's current role.

We had the exact same take on Paschall. Looks like the Wolves have gone half way with Garza replacing Lawson as one of our two-way deals. Now we have to hope our front office takes the next step and replaces Paschall. Like you, I'd like to see McClung take Paschall's two-way spot. But there are a number of players I'd take over Paschall right now.

Garza didn't see the court last night, but he put on an impressive show pregame and at halftime swishing 3-pointers. I'm glad the Wolves have given him a contract...big bodies who can shoot like that are rare, and he will give us some good big man depth.

Glad you mentioned Garza's pregame show. He hit 10 corner threes in a row - nothing but net each time. He has a beautiful high release - unblockable at his height.

Physically, he reminds me of Wally Szczerbiak, except bigger. Those big bushy eyebrows...
Re: Who do the Wolves cut?
I'm glad they signed Garza but I actually like Lawson. I'd guess the Wolves believe that Paschall is still an NBA player and it's not hard to say that Garza outplayed Lawson in the preseason. What I like about Lawson is his athletic ability and able to really move on D. He didn't really pop much on offense in preseason that I saw.
