Compound that with the fact that the money saved from players unlikely to back next year won't buy them players that wanna join a 20 win team. They'd rather take pay cuts to join a contender. Players make money in other ways these days.

Are we really going to care about tanking for 10%. Also tank for something that we are going to lose more times then not.

Of the players that played tonight Rubio/Ant/Okogie/Mcdaniels/Towns/Dlo/Naz/Hernangomez/Vandy/Jmac. The majority of them will be in the rotation again next year and 5 of them I would say are the Wolves core going forward.

Winning matters. Ant needs to learn what winning habits, we need to see if Dlo and Towns can be legit (8-6 this year). We need to not create losing habits that has killed this franchise for many years. Losing because of 10% means does not make sense to me. When the "best" case scenario with losing is we still lose 60% of the times

When it's hard to distinguish between tanking and trying to win games I tend to lean towards tanking to get a good player in the draft on the cheap. No matter the odds. The odds of this team being a contender next year are less likely than tanking and getting the the first pick. Tell me I'm wrong.

New Jersey, LA, Philly and Clippers have all had bad beats. I doubt they sweat it more then the teams that beat them celebrate it. How was D Mitchell tonight? Oh I forgot, the best player from either team didn't play either game. But no matter.

What are we arguing here. Yes good teams lose, that is a fact.

My main argument is the Wolves could have the worst record in the NBA and will lose their pick the majority of the time. That 10% better odds does nothing for me. If we were like the Rockets where they keep their pick top 4, and being the worst record is 100% keeping pick then I get tanking.

Also their is benefits of losing our pick. Cap saving, also can then trade our 1st round pick in 2022 and 23 what can't happen if they keep the pick

I've always thought that the best teams in the league with the best players had to concern themselves with cap savings. But your saying our next to last place team in the league should be strategically winning just enough games for cap purposes? Sounds like a winning organization to me!!

You are not understanding me. You want to purposely lose. I want to try and win and let the chips fall where they will. I'm cool if we keep our pick but not at the expense of trying to win. I'm just saying there are some positives if the wolves do lose their pick.

I'm with KEK on this one. I will take wins over Ping Pong odds this year (especially given the 40 percent odds) We are already way too young to be a serious NBA team and more rookies are just more players that don't know how to win in the NBA.

Let's win some games, develop some of the young talent we have, get a few more calls from officials, and try to get a 6 or 7 seed fingers crossed with injuries.

The defensive intensity we've displayed recently gives me a sliver of hope for the franchise.

At this point, I'd be happy with 4 or 5 more wins. Obviously I'd love more, but anything in that 4-6 range is enough for me to believe that Finch and the current roster can at least push for ~ 38-42 wins next season.

Then I'd look at this summer to really see if we can flip Beasley and another asset (Rubio's expiring?) for a legit starting PF.

I think if we finish reasonably strong, add another established piece this offseason, and then start seeing more tangible evidence of Glen transitioning the franchise to new ownership...those things together....then I might go into next season with a sunnier disposition on things in general with this team.

Impressive win again based on defense! Wolves defense?

I remember previous years the Wolves would actually have spurts of good to great defensive play. So I'm not just imagining that things are going to be good from here on out. It's consistency that has been an issue. Usually consistently terrible.

Still the effort was there and it felt like, hey NBA were not the laughing stock, watch us beat the Jazz a couple times. The Wolves came to play.

Let's see them do it longterm though, I'm hopeful and skeptical as well.

Nothing would be more Timberwolves like than beating the #1 team ... and then losing to the #30 team the next night.

Give us a reason to believe Timberwolves. It's not THAT hard...

[Note: I think they win by 12+.]

Yeah, this game smells a lot like that Indiana game a few weeks ago when most of their team was missing and I predicted a blowout...didn't turn out so good for our fighting Timberwolves. Overconfidence, you know. Tonight they are only giving 2 points to a Houston team who played only 7 guys in their last loss, and the only one I had ever heard of was Kelly Olynyk and his 10PPG career scoring average. Maybe they get Christian Wood back tonight, but he's still hobbled with a sore ankle. We should be favored by double digits, but Vegas is on to us and our undeserved hubris. If I were a betting man I might bet the house limit on the Wolves-2. But then again...

Undeserved Hubris is a decent album title for an underground hipster-doofus indie band.

I did take the Wolves -2 tonight. Don't feel great about it because, you know, Wolves. Our biggest enemy tonight is ourselves. If we come out like professionals we should win easily. But I can't tell if we are just seeing a stretch of quality play, or something more. Really looking forward to it though.
