I look at every team in the West and can't make an argument for being better than any of them without wearing rose colored glasses.

I have an extra set to lend you!

Go check out the Kings, Spurs, Thunder, and Grizzlies rosters and tell me how they're better than the Wolves. There's no logical way. I'm comfortable throwing in the Pelicans into that group as well.

Rosters aside, Minnesota probably has the worst head coach in the league, but high-level talent should offset that a bit.

Cam, you won't stop with your unbridled hatred of Ryan. What did Ryan do to you? Please get some professional help.

Heh, good one. Hopefully said fan is wearing a Packers jersey.

Exactly. Gonna be a war of attrition this year with covid. Why can't we have outdoor games in warmer cities. No fans anyway. Not like we need an arena (I kid, but it would be cool).

Cam has a legitimate gripe regarding Ryan -- he would not be head coach without that last name.

However, I think there were other things considered in selecting Ryan as a head coach than just his name. In addition to being around the Wolves and Dad since forever, he definitely seems to have the ability to connect with players -- something Thibs did not do. Ryan was also bought into the Rosas vision, and Rosas clearly saw Ryan as some he could groom, and could grow with the young team he planned to assemble. And Rosas has certainly done a nice job of surrounding Ryan with competent assistant coaches to help his development.

If it works out well, it will be a feather in Rosas's cap.

All those teams won 11-15 games more than our beloved Wolves in a shortened season while also trying to get better this offseason. Have the Wolves made enough moves to make up that kind of gap this offseason? I'm just not sure.

It's not unbridled hate when it's a fair observation. I actually think Ryan Saunders is an awesome guy from what I've seen, but that's not enough. Butterflies and rainbows are not viable reasons for hire -- neither is someone's family name. The facts are that Saunders is inexperienced and unqualified to be an NBA head coach and his results (36-70 W/L; .340 W%) through 106 games do not support his case either.

I challenge you as well as this board to name head coaches in the league that Saunders is unquestionably better or more qualified than. Good luck to those that take on this challenge.

Many times I have one upped Tim and usually it's been a disaster. I'll take the under on his water mark this time.

I think to justify be the youngest NBA coach there should have been some precedence of winning, like an amazing turnaround of a college program to back up the hire. He did get hired due to nepotism by one of the worst judges of talent in the history of the NBA. I was hoping Ryan could have been a unique case of homegrown talent like Spolestra, but it doesnt seem to have manifested yet if that is the case. Ryan and Rosas have a lot to prove this year.

When Malik goes off on that Packers cardboard fan what is it going to be called Thrilla in Manila...folders?

The last Jon K podcast it was hilarious when after Jon K had broken down a bunch of possible options of how the rotation would work especially including Beasley, Souhan point out that Jon had called Beasley a "gunner". Jon K said oops and a few seconds later mentioned something like Beasley being possible weapon off the bench...and then said oh man I did it again. Lol

This is an aside to our situation but for OKC I feel like until proven otherwise their coaching situation with young rookie Mark Daigneault is a downgrade from Billy Donovan.
