Loved this game. This win was 100 percent triggered by defensive effort and good coaching adjustments which are two things you can bring every night.

The defensive specialists played their roles very well tonight.

DLO/KAT and ANT chipped in for 75% of our scoring.

Our best worst moment was the 3-4 trips where we insisted on running the offense through KAT and Finch held himself accountable stating he let that run too long.

Have to admit I almost shut the game off in the first quarter.

Okogie btw is going to be hard to remove from the lineup!

That block Okogie made closing out on Bogdanovic and then saving it from going out of bounds was probably the highlight of the game to me. Oh why oh why can't Okogie develop a 3-pt shot!? He'd be 5X more valuable to us. Instead, we see Gobert out there basically playing zone and not even worrying about Okogie.

It's one of the great tragedies of this franchise - the inability to find and develop people that can both defend and make open 3s.

Since the All Star Break Josh is shooting 33.3% from 3 on 2.1 attempts per game. In no way is that awesome but it is better. For Josh to play a big role on this team going forward he needs to hit open jumpers and he is doing a little better in the 2nd half of the season

Ya, I watched Finch press conference. I love that he said it was his fault for some of the problems in the 4th. (I said he was getting out coached in that stretch). Love that he took accountability for that because nobody is going to be perfect.

Also Finch benched Ant down the stretch in the 4th against the kings because of lazy play. Tonight I only saw the 4th Q but Ant was locked in defensively and made big plays down the stretch on that end. That is what I'm loving. Finch creating a culture of accountability

Yeah, Josh's 3-point struggles are on display when we're playing the Jazz because of how it frees up Gobert, and JO has missed his last 7 threes over the past three games. But I haven't given up on Josh's ability to hit the open three. A larger sample size than the past three games is the entire months of March and April prior to the past three games, and Josh made 42% of his 3-point shots. And he is shooting 52.4% overall for the month of April. When you combine his 82% free throw shooting, his 38.2% 3-point shooting in college, and his 3-point success the past 2 months, there's some reason for hope that Josh can actually be the 3 and D guy we have been looking for. I mean, if Finch continues to start Josh and give him 30+ minutes, why shouldn't a college 38% 3-point shooter be reasonably adept beyond the arc? Josh needs to keep playing his disruptive defense and play within himself on offense...that is, focus on only layups, put backs and open threes. If he does this, he will be a valuable partner to our more offensive-minded players. There's no doubt that Gobert is going to leave Josh alone Monday night...I want to see JO make them pay this time.

All players go through peaks and valleys in their shooting. The problem is 33% would be a peak for Okogie. I don't see him sustaining it unfortunately. Remember how Wiggins would have those stretches of 10-15 games where he'd be hitting 40% or so on 3's? He'd always end up regressing to his career average by then going cold for an equal stretch.

(of course now that Wiggins plays for someone else he is having a career year from 3. Figures. I know he's not stood out that much otherwise which makes me feel a little better).

Are you Lip burner account??? Haha. Lip always brings up Okogie college 3pt shooting.

I don't think his college stats mean anything anymore. He has played 3 NBA seasons where he has been one of if not the worst "shooting" guard in the NBA. He kind of is what he is. Can he shoot low 30% probably but he will never be able to be relied on

We need to have some perspective when it comes to Josh Okogie. Look at Marcus Smart. He's been a key to the success of the Celtics over the past 6 seasons. Yet, after hitting 33% of his threes in his rookie season, his three-point percentages in his 2nd, 3rd and 4th seasons were 25.3%, 28.3% and 30.1%. His FG percentages in his first four seasons were 36.7, 34.5, 35.9 and 36.7. It wasn't until his 5th season that he took a leap in shooting efficiency from behind the arc with percentages of 36.4, 34.7 and 34.5 - not stellar, but respectable. And keep in mind that Smart, unlike Okogie, has been has had a stable playing environment with consistently significant minutes, a clear consistent role and the same, high quality, head coach.

Josh is closing in on the end of his 3rd season and this season has been a weird one. Just give it time. His defense and non-stop motor are desperately needed on this otherwise defensively challenged team. On the offensive end, Josh is an excellent free-throw shooter with a knack for drawing fouls. He shot 38% from behind the arc in both of his two college seasons on a respectable 4 attempts per game. So I still believe it's reasonable to expect him to emulate Marcus Smart and become a respectable shooter. Meanwhile, he's gives us defense and hustle we desperately need on a team-friendly contract and we should be able to re-sign him to another reasonable team-friendly deal.

Completely fair. I rip Okogie a lot and has always thought he has overrated. You know me though always grasping at straws to hope a player can be serviceable

His college 3-point shooting on its own doesn't mean a lot at this point, but it isn't totally irrelevant. He hit 38% in both of his college seasons on a respectable number of attempts. Moreover, you have to consider his college stats in concert with other factors such as his consistently very good free-throw shooting. My point has never been that he'll become a 38% three-point shooter in the NBA. In fact, I don't expect that to happen. But it's one of several factors that suggest it's reasonable to expect Okogie to eventually get his 3-point percentage up into the low 30s like Marcus Smart. My main point is patience. That's the lesson of Marcus Smart and others.

I'm convinced that Okogie's poor 3-point shooting is mainly a function of his difficulty slowing down. You have to slow yourself down to shoot well. Okogie plays so fast and sometimes frenetically, but hasn't yet figured out how to slow himself down when shooting. I still think he can figure that out. Marcus Smart did.
