Leon rose flipped Ed Davis into three second round picks.

I agree that Spellman and Evans are enough in theory, but there limited teams to dump to. They also know you're trying to clear a roster spot, with Spellman knowingly not want to be here. Teams have you by the balls, so you have to pony up. How many 2nd rounders prove to do anything, especially here?

Why did Utah give up two second rounders just to move his contract?

Look at their entire off-season, they made a ton of questionable moves.

Utah traded away davis mid season last season in order to have room to absorb jordan clarkson's contract in their trade with the cavs.

Ummm... yeah... am I missing something here?

New York gave up nothing for Davis and TWO 2nd round picks?
But the Wolves gave up two players and a 2nd rd pick for him?

Why not go directly to Utah for the trade in the first place?

[Note: If this is because Spellman and Evans were such terrible contracts... then why trade for them in the first place last year?]

Obviously, Utah did not want 2 players back.

Spellman and Evans were simple filler/long shots to fill the roster last year.

Abe the Knicks took Ed Davis into cap space and Utah was free of Davis salary. The Wolves wouldn't have been able to do that and didn't want to.

Also I believe Spellman and Evans had to be included to make all the salaries work in the Russell trade. Where they bad contracts? Evans sucks so sure. Spellman likely was at worst a neutral asset. Let's see what 2nd rounder they gave up.

I think Davis just knows his role. He is a great rebounder, screener, competes on D and is known as a great teammate.

Also Russell and Davis were over +8 per 100 possessions in over 1k possessions when they played together with the Nets.

Davis won't kill you and can help in areas where you are weak. Not a huge move but a move on the margins that can help you win games

Just lighting assets on fire, Spellman has positive value and we add a 2nd for the ability to clear a roster spot. NY must love MN, first we give them #33 to move up two spots to draft a player that wasn't going to be drafted in the next two spots. Now this, man this is starting to get dumb!

You cant guarantee Bolmaro would be there. So if that is your guy, you go get him.

I am not a huge fan of either of our later picks, but I'm not going to sweat over that 2nd round pick if those players are who Rosas was targeting. At least they weren't sold for the great prospect "Cash Considerations", who the billionaire Glen always loves.

How does Spellman have positive value? Also you don't know that a team wasn't going to take Balmero. Balmero was considered the best stash prospect in this draft.

Wolves traded our 11th (who didn't want to play here) and 15th man for a guy who can play 15 minutes and play a role.

All it cost was a 2nd. I'll take it.

Agree with this 100%. Balmero might end up sucking but go and get your guy and the Wolves weren't adding 4 rookies to this team.
