Charlotte seeking trade to dump cap space

Post by TeamRicky [enjin:6648771] »

The Hornets are looking to trade Spencer Hawes.
The Hornets are looking to move him to make room for Roy Hibbert or Zaza Pachulia.

Charlotte was rumored to be offering pick 22 for anyone willing to take Hawes or Lamb off their hands. Would you try to work a trade with Charlotte if they incentivized us with a future protected first rounder.

Lamb can shoot 3s and is a decent enough defender. He's actually a better defender than almost all the pure shooters left in free agency. He's young enough that he might have some upside. I'm less interested in Hawes, but he is a stretch 4, something we might be able to use.

Hawes has 2 years remaining for a total of 13.1 M
Lamb has 3 years left for a total of 21 M

I would trade for Lamb without hesitation. He just had by far his best season and has just 7 million per year contract that is bargain compared to Crabbe, Turner and some other comparable players signed for.

This is the type of move I wish we seized upon during the draft. Lamb and a pick that could have netted us Luwawu for cap space would have been a home run move. I'd still consider taking Lamb if they throw us a bone of some sort (a heavily protected first rounder or probably even a second round pick). I don't know why Charlotte was disappointed with him. His three point percentage dropped, but his overall shooting shot up to 45%. He can rebound and is a better defender than a lot of the shooters still available. Has a very huge wingspan and looks like he has the frame to add weight.

If I got Lamb and a Pick it would be a no brainier. Problem was that beforw the draft I don't think the Wolves had a salary to maybe what Lamb was getting paid. Maybe they could have just done the deal when the new cap was in idk. Lamb seems sorta like a bargain now.

Don't we have a trade exception from the Love - Wiggins deal?

They expire after a year so no. We do have the Budinger 5 million trade exception for a few more days (July 12)

Sidenote: Kemba's contract at 12 million per for the best 3 years looks pretty much like a steal now.
