RealGM is a treasure trove! Here are some takeaways:

- You can't conclude anything from summer league shooting efficiency. The sample size simply isn't big enough.

- Upperclassmen do tend to fare better than those with only one year of college experience. Foye and Lillard were 4-year college players and they just lit people up.

- Everyone turns the ball over a bunch. No surprises there.

- I think Summer League might be the ultimate "eye test" venue. How hard does the guy play? How is his floor vision (regardless if the subsequent shot goes in or not)? How easily does he create his own shot (again, whether it goes in or not)? How does he match up physically?

As this relates to Dunn, I could really care less about his stats. Yes he put up a great stat line. I was more impressed with his handle, ability to create shots, defensive presence and his willingness to create shots for others and his ability to beat his man off the dribble. I felt I saw all those qualities in college. And oh yea most of it was done against another physically gifted NBA pg. and when he was matched up against another highly touted rookie, he looked pretty physically imposing. With my earlier praise of Dunn and his first performance I never mentioned his stats once. Again, if people weren't so sensitive in regards to Rubio, nobody would be going into the archives about past performances in SL. I get people are annoyed with the Rubio v Dunn talk. I won't post on the topic anymore. I'm just truly excited about the player we drafted this year. I think our "core 3" everything talks about is now a "core 4"

Do you guys remember Anthony Randolph's summer league breakout? I think that was in his second summer league. Holy cow, that dude looked unstoppable and crazy versatile. I remember thinking that guy was gonna be a star. Ha!

Very small sample size, experience gives a big benefit, quick guards benefit from lack of offensive and defensive schemes . . . there's all sorts of reasons to be wary of concluding much of anything from summer league. But you bet your ass I can't wait to watch Kris Dunn again tonight!

I've said this during past summer leagues: In summer league you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. Players who suck in summer league draw the ire of the fanbase. "He can't even compete in a summer league against scrubs." If he dominates then it is "Its only summer league against scrubs, it means nothing".

For me, what stands out more than stats or crossover moves is that he is physically mature and he has demonstrated translatable skills. These lead me to think he can contribute, at minimum. It remains to be seen how he fits into a more structured system with better teammates. I am optimistic.
