Pork, here are Dunn's highlights from the game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duo6Xu6yGks
He had a very good opening game, especially defensively. He did make some mistakes, but overall it was impressive.
Watch the full game though, if you can, and watch how he does stuff like anticipates the pick while defending the ball handler on the pick'n'roll. That is a very valuable skill with the more perimeter-oriented game these days.
And the guy clearly has the ability to make spectacular plays. Against NBA competition, he made the highlight reels from college look almost realistic. It's always a little exciting to watch a rookie at Summer League, like opening a present. But Dunn was exciting in a way that went beyond that. He made legitimately exciting plays and made you think he could do it again at any time. That's fun to watch.

I agree, Jerry. I'm not drawing any conclusions about how these guys are going to play this season (although I guess I did surmise that Dunn would contribute more this year than the typical rookie). But there are some observations about last night that are indisputable...at least about last night.
1) Dunn did not look like a typical NBA rookie. This may be in part because he is older than the typical rookie, but he appears confident nonetheless.
2) Tyus Jones looks physically stronger than last year, and also looked more confident and polished.
3) While it's only summer league, it's notable to know our guards performed as well as they did against a starting back court for a conference rival. This wasn't just some D League competition they played so well against.

I agree with all your points, drew. I had a front row seat for Vegas SL last year, and I can say with confidence that neither of our rookies last year (KAT and Jones) looked very ready for the NBA in any of the games. And we saw how KAT progressed with a little bit of coaching and became a rookie star. I'm really looking forward to watching what Thibs et al can do to smooth out Kris' rough edges...there's a lot to work with there.

Speaking of summer league, I don't know how Simmons was the consensus over Ingram. I see Ingram with such a high ceiling as a two way player.
For us Dunn was such a great pick. If defense were as highly sought after as offense I feel like he goes number one. He is going to be a great fit with the guys we already have. Going to be an exciting few years for us.

Good to see Dunn and Jones have good games. How much time did Dunn match up with Mudiay? Dunn is 2 years older, but Mudiay had the benefit of playing in the NBA last year and should be comfortable in this setting. It is a good sign if they matched up most of the game and Dunn out played him because Mudiay was ranked higher then him in the 2015 draft class for PG's and this game might
be the first sign that he might leapfrog him as a better player this year.

I just spent some time watching highlights of various players. Ingram looked really good in his first game. Then I watched Simmons. I don't know about anything else but his passing was crazy good. I was really impressed with some of those dimes. The game highlights I watch were against the Jazz so he was working against Lyles so it wasn't some scrub.

I know basing stuff on summer league is moronic, but even going back through college I just saw Ingram as the better talent. Simmons has great vision and is a great passer. Maybe he is Magic 2.0. Hope he is because that'll be great for the league. I just see Ingram's freaky length, his skill, and how smooth he plays the game and I see a sure fire superstar. I don't see that with Simmoms.
