I'm not sure how much credence we should put in last year's numbers. The guy averaged 13 minutes per game, which was damn near a career high. His overall body of work does not exude a long track record of steady minutes and consistent production. I believe this is why his value is being discounted to a degree.

We know he's big. We know he can rebound and block shots. He also fouls a lot. He's been weirdly up and down with his efficiency. Just compare his FG% in 14-15 vs. 15-16. Did he really improve THAT much?

I like the signing, don't get me wrong. Great move. But I'm not necessarily penciling in those numbers from last year....

I do t have my hopes up super high but he brings size and relative skills this team needs. He is at least a rich man's Greg Steimsma. That's actually a nice bench player.

I echo that sentiment Hockey! He played after my time in high school, but he's about as hometown as you can get for me.

Q, did you go to Jefferson?

From Canishoopus via Twitter "Only half paying attention but Gasol and Aldrich suggests a possible plan to trade Dieng or maybe Bjelica"

I'm thinking more like KG is done.

Oh ok thanks. I was just looking at his per 36, didn't know he had such low minutes. Well, yeah I agree, a great signing anyway.

I don't know, but I think he's kind of under the radar. His highest PPG his first 5 years was 3.3, and he only played over 10 MPG once...plus many DNP-CDs. And although he's a very solid defender, he's not particularly long or a great athlete. His blocked shots have never been highlight reel blocks; rather, he seems to excel at defense due to smarts and finesse. Guys like that seem to stay out of the conversation. His first very good year was last year, and the Clippers really wanted to retain him but couldn't make it work under the cap.

Who know, there may be a Minnesota discount involved too. He owns a house in Plymouth.

Playing with Chris Paul means a lot of easier looks than he might have seen in NY...playing with Ricky shouldn't be much different. Some guys just take longer to learn the NBA game, and the improvement in Cole the past three years tells me he's that kind of guy. We shouldn't need him for much more than the 13 MPG he played last year, so I see no reason a guy at the peak of his career shouldn't duplicate last year's numbers.

Indeed I did. I believe we had this discussion once on the old ESPN board. I think I was ahead of you too....Class of '87. Jefferson won state titles in b-ball thanks to Kevin Lynch my junior and senior year.

Cole and I went to the same high school. I was about 20 years ahead of him, so we didn't hang out

Mr. Hockey 1989 was Trent Klatt of Osseo and of course former NHL Player. Is that you? I thought you went to Jefferson :)
