The Vikings made "The most moves risky or otherwise"?!?!?!?!? Well, the Twins just drafted 60 guys a few weeks ago, so I'm going to say them. As long as MLB teams employ 175 or so players, they are always going to lead the NFL and NHL (roundabout 50) and NBA (15).

I terms of risky, nothing the Vikes have done approaches signing Nolasco (4.27 ERA in the NL), Hughes (great talent, lazy as a Walmart greeter), or Pominville (went to high school with Sid).

I get it. The Vikes are the most successful team in town right now, and you really wanted to say....something, so you chose them. And I don't remember you having anything to say about Garnett's or Pek's contracts as they were happening. Maybe you can spend the time you use making really cool threads to bump those up so we can read your very important thoughts as they were happening in real time.

If I understand what you mean it's that they are taking up roster spots not exactly $$. I agree. The reality is that pretty much every NBA team has at least 1 roster spot taken up by a mostly pointless player. At this point it's easy to argue KG PEk and Payne are dead spot roster guys.

The good news is that the Wolves have a lot of guys other than those 3 that need or probably deserve minutes and several of them are core young players. Some teams have a lot of guys you like on the roster but a couple likely will never play because there will be no time unless you have catastrophic injury stuff happen which we have seen here over and over.

I'd prefer to have 1 or even all of those roster spots available to sign guys that could either help immediately or be solid players for the future. My guess is Thibs and Layden feel the same way although I am sure they will be relatively respectful of KG plus they really don't have much choice.

It will be interesting what they do next. There is only one open roster space but Payne's spot I doubt is locked in if they can get a better player especially on a cheap deal.

I agree with Monster and am quoting him to add a couple points he missed (no offense)

1. First of all, I have YET TO SEE any evidence that says that KG can't play 240 seconds of gametime at a time, like Doc used him their last year together. 16 or so minutes a game at a high level would be tremendous. Now, would it be nice is it was 32? Absolutely. But everyone, from Glen on down to Auerbach-of-the-Midwest himself Flip Saunders knew that wasn't reality when they signed him to that 2-year extension.

2. My family told me that the trainer went on TV and said that though they were shutting Pek down, they expected him to be ready for training camp. Could that have been a ploy to see if they could still trade him? Absolutely. But I don't think he is going to not be able to play and still pass a physical. Tyson Chandler failed a physical once and hasn't really missed extended time. Don't get me wrong. If Halloween comes and he still can't play, I am wrong and the Wolves have a real problem. But let's see what happens. It's not like you guys are really busy.

3. There is nothing more dead on the Wolves roster right now than Payne. Pek outplayed him those 6 or so games he was back. That's sad.

Yeah, wings are still pretty thin which is why Dunn is bound to get some run at the 2. Wiggins, Rush, and Bazz are all natural 3's whereas LaVine is really our only true SG. That leaves a lot of opportunity for Dunn to get minutes behind Rubio and LaVine.

Q, I'm not going to disagree with what you're saying. But if Dunn has to play a lot of minutes at the 2 it is not a good thing for the Wolves. It would lend credence to your point that we are thin at the wings.

Assuming Thibs starts LaVine at SG, than Wiggins is going to play SF regardless if that's his best position or not. The only reason I characterize him as a natural SF is because he has prototypical SF size and isn't known for great handles. But sure, if Bazz or Rush come off the bench for LaVine and Wiggins stays on the court, Wiggins will probably go on the score sheet as a SG.

As for Dunn, I agree that the majority of his minutes will be (and should be) as our backup PG. But I absolutely see situations where he will get some minutes off the ball playing next to either Rubio or Jones.

Rush could help things. Rubio/Dunn/Rush/Bjelly/Aldrich for example gives you two decent threats from beyond the arc, even though it's not from the PG/SG positions.

Once again, don't take it personally because you are not the only person to say this, but where is this Lavine>Bazz mentality coming from? Bazz is good, and should get every opportunity to prove it because they have to decide to either extend him or let him go/trade him.
