Playoffs???

Post by Monster »

Screw it the Wolves have a real shot at this thing. They are 4.5 games out of first place!!! Yes the Suns are the only team they have a leg up on but if they go on a run here in this stretch they could easily be right in the race. They have enough talent. I'm gonna he scoreboard watching.

Orlando helped us tonight and Lebron didn't even play in the 4th quarter of that game.

Sacramento is .500 now and there was a report that supposedly management wants the young guys to play. Regardless the Kings while I think they will not be bad I don't see them as a team that's gonna stay over .500.

You'll see I was having he same thoughts as you in the other thread I just started. The problem is that I have a hard time seeing the Lakers fall below us. LeBron is too good and he doesn't have some nice young talent around him in Hart, Kuzma, Ingram and Ball. The Clippers look like they're for real. The Jazz will come around and tonight's game against the Celtics was an indication that the Jazz may have turned the corner. The Spurs always seem to find a way and they're stronger now with DeRozan than they were last season when they finished ahead of us in the standings. The Grizzlies are a good team with Conley back to go with Gasol. Jackson is a young stud who will only get better as the season progresses. Houston seems to be back on track as well. I think the Wolves can compete with any team in the West except the Warriors, but the problem is that the Wolves have dug themselves in a hole early this season with the Butler drama.

I watched part of that Celtics Utah game I don't want to take too much away from Utah jut the Celtics couldn't buy a bucket. Jaylen Browns blew a bunny at the rim they couldn't hit a 3 etc. The Celtics were playing guys off the end of the bench for part of that time also. People have basically crowned the Jazz as a tier above a bunch of other teams. They need to get on their game soon because we are coming for them. :)

The hole we dug is a couple more wins away from being dug out of. If we can avoid bad injuries there will be other teams that struggle.

One game at a time fellas! It's hard for me to get my arms wrapped around the notion of the playoffs after the fiasco we just went through. If we stay healthy and other teams start hitting getting injuries, that might give us a crack at the playoffs, but otherwise, the West is ridiculously loaded. We need SUSTAINED defensive improvement - not just one or two inspired games here and there - to have any reasonable shot at it.

I agree it is way too early to look that far ahead, but the loaded west may actually make it easier wrt record to get in to the PO's. I could see a team grabbing the eighth spot with 42-43 wins this year.

We are at .500 and sitting in the 8th seed and that was before the clock struck Dec 1. This is not a drill.

I think this version of the team is a playoff contender. They play the kind of defense that doesn't waste losses on bad teams and gives you a fighting chance to beat the top teams and steal more games than you should. Offense is still very important, but defense has always been the key to consistency in being able to win games and more importantly not lose games you shouldn't.

I agree that defense is the great equalizer, but man, hard to envision us keeping up this level of play on that end. Our offense needs to get better. May be Wiggins can finally shoot better than 30%. He's had only two games this year where he's shot 50% or better. Incredible.
