EXPECTED W/L is a silly little stat, but it's pretty accurate. I've never seen it be so off as with that Wolves team.

It has the Wolves with 48 wins. And when you consider the team had a Top 10 offense AND top 10 defense into the final week of the season, it's mind-boggling to think that not only did the team not make the playoffs... but couldn't even win 1/2 its games.

What a season.

I think they had something like eight 25+ point wins... but struggled mightily in the 4th quarters of games with both Rubio and Barea's production falling off the cliff in the final frame... game after game, week after week.

I hated that year.

I could be wrong but that team had the highest point differential in NBA history not to make the playoffs

Lol, that is as Wolves-ey as it gets.

I actually found parts of that year exhilerating with Love whipping outlet passes to Corey Brewer for easy buckets. For Brewer, that is the one season where he was used in an optimal way. It was his most efficient season of his career.

I think Kek is right. I checked the past 17 years, and our +2.7 was the biggest positive differential among non playoff teams. Oddly, the second highest was the Suns' +2.6 the same season...the Suns though finished only 1 game out of the playoffs while we were 9 games out!

Yeah, that was a pretty, but gutless team. We had all those gorgeous 40 point first quarters, only to fold like a cheap suit when the game was on the line. This year's Wolves team isn't nearly as pretty, but they have shown us in the past two weeks that they are quite resilient at the end of games. I'll take a tough team over the quick start but fading teams any day.

Hey as long as we're being nostalgic here, Pek made 11.6 million last year. His "big" year and only good year where he started 60 games was 2012/13!

James has been cleared to play tonight. If he's healthy, it's a big blow to our playoff chances, because the Lakers were playing well with him. I'd love to see that game to see how he looks but it's not a nationally televised game. I think I may have to jump off playoff island if he is truly back, but I'm going to wait a week or two to see how that groin holds up...I'm still thinking it's going to be a nagging recurring thing.

I'm still on playoff island unless cov is out for a lot longer.

I think healthy, this is still a playoff team, not a contender, but a playoff one.

Wolves are not a playoff team, could we throw G. Dieng, Saric, Tolliver, and a top 10 protected 1st & 2nd for DeAndre Jordan?

Why would we do that. We would be giving up saric/1st/2nd just to get off gorgui contract. No thank you

The Wolves won't make the playoffs this season. It's OK for fans to hold out hope. But the Wolves organization can't afford to be distracted by the hope of an 8th seed and first-round exit. They need to be focused on building around KAT beyond this season -- hiring a new PBO, hiring a new head coach (possibly removing Ryan's interim designation), preparing for the draft and exploring possible deadlines before the Feb. trade deadline.

Agreed Lip, all eyes need to be on stockpiling assets (mostly picks if possible) and hope we hit a bullseye. The more picks we have, the more chances for a bullseye.

That being said, I certainly don't want us to tank. It's been nice to see KAT finally demonstrate that he can both produce sexy box score stats and help lead his team to .500+ basketball post-Butler trade.
