Knowing the Wolves, even if that situation presented itself, we'd still find a way to end up with a Derrick Williams.even if that situation presented itself, we'd still find a way to end up with a Derrick Williams.

I'm just happy Towns is okay.

Or Wes Johnson, or Jonny Flynn, or Andrew Wiggins, or....

Or Randy Foye (over Roy), or Shabazz (over McCollum), or Dieng (over Gobert), or Dunn (over Hield/Murray)

I think what's funny about these picks that were essentially wasted is that there was a blatantly obvious choice [for most] that wound up being a better player.

Most people point to the Jonny Flynn over Steph Curry pick as the biggest and most confusing of these. Well, not for me. What I will never be able to understand is the Wes Johnson pick. David Kahn should have been fired upon submission of his name to be drafted. DeMarcus Cousins, Greg Monroe, and Paul George were sitting there available. At the time, I had no idea George would turn into this MVP caliber player that he is now, but he had all the makings of a two-way wing with size and fluidity to match. I was also completely sold on the talent/production of Cousins despite the attitude red flags and you just knew Monroe was going to be a good, skilled big for a decade.

These are things most common fans could see. How is it possible that a front office who is paid to do these evaluations couldn't see the same things?

The funny thing about the Wes pick is that Kahn loved Paul George. He wanted to pick George but he was afraid of the media backlash not picking a projected top 5 pick in Wes. Kahn let the media effect his decision because he was ripped for the 3 PG draft.

There's a lot of room between #4 and #10.

I don't remember anybody being over the moon about a 23-year-old rookie who had NEVER in his entire life (including high school) scored 17 ppg in a season.

We saw it with the Derrick Williams draft, too. Why not drop down a spot or two if you're not sold on the guy and pick up an asset or two in the process. Heck, arguably the best draft in Wolves history happened that way... OJ Mayo for Kevin Love.
