And we absolutely need to get RoCo and a PG back coming out of the break!

Exactly, Tim. Nice to get some reasonably good news this morning on the injury front. Rose is out tonight so we will have to grimace watching Okogie's brick-laying, but Teague has been upgraded to "doubtful" and may keep us from having to play the Loose Canaan tonight...it would be great if Ryan thinks he's healthy enough to cover the 12 minutes Canaan would otherwtse get. Tyus is still out, but at least he was shooting at practice yesterday. We need RoCo back right after the all star break, and then anything can happen.

You know Canaan's name is pronounced Kay-nin right? I keep wondering what what a loose Israelite promised land has to do with his play. Maybe this is the new Darko is manna from heaven thing? Lol

Close enough...hopefully the next time we hear his name pronounced in any way will be when they announce his release in 4 days. He's been terrible.

LST look on the bright side Layden brought in this guy and Ryan has coached him up...I means it's a small sample but as a Wolf he is averaging the most 3's per 36 in his career! It's the Wolves effect!!! :) lol lol lol

Wolves loss to the Grizz and A Clippers win and that buys me a ticket off the island via Spirit airlines. Gotta deal Tolliver and maybe even Taj. Wolfson says their is a market for both. Might as well reward Saric with that performance last night with a starting job the rest of the season. Hell...a team should want Deng too but I might want to keep him and resign him to a cheap deal this summer.

Yeah, the water is rising fast. But I am literally on an island - Marco Island. And I won't be leaving until February 23rd, so I might as well stay on the playoff island long enough to see what things look like coming out of the all star break.

The Clippers just made a trade for the future. Maybe they will fall off. Anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing Ryan get closer to the 20 game mark before giving up on him...

I didn't know of the Clippers trade before my post but the Lakers made a win now move getting Reggie Bullock for Svi. That's a legit move to boast the Lakers if Lebron stays healthy.

You got the Clippers punting on a playoff spot yet this team is dying to make it to the 8th seed and can't.

It is interesting, isnt it...the "season" strategy in the NBA is more interesting than any of the other major sports (baseball being second). Some here would call it a losers mentality, but the Clippers brass is thinking exactly like I was thinking last April. I wasn't at all interested in a Houston first round bloodbath if it meant losing a lottery pick and keeping Thibs, and the Clippers would rather build for the future than sneak into the 8th spot. (I recognize there are other factors in play here for the Clips, mainly wanting to get something back for Harris who they think will leave at the end of the season, but both situations are long-term thinking rather than "win now".) I look at the Clips' roster now and see little chance of them making the playoffs. So it's too bad the Wolves couldn't win in Memphis, because it would have been nice to get a W on the same night both LA teams look much less formidable.

Here's the difference:

The Clippers had an extended run of success in the postseason prior to breaking up Lob City. They have Jerry West at the helm. They have young prospects with upside. They now have future picks. They also have space to attract players. They're everything this team isn't.

I was cool with making the playoffs because I honestly didn't think they'd ever make it back if they didn't make it last year. All this franchise knows is failure. They've won 2 playoff series in their history and they were in the same year. Had they not made it last year, perhaps we pick 14th and 20th, get Michael Porter Jr. which would have done nothing for us this year, we trade Butler sooner, and then they bottom out again with a maxed out Wiggins. The issue with bottoming out yet again after 14 consecutive years of missing the playoffs is that it would damn near guarantee this team breaks the NBA record for most years without a playoff appearance and then we can set our sights on 20 straight years without the playoffs! Yay!

This team does a lot of dumb stuff, but trying to end this drought was worth it. As a fan I don't expect anything good from this team anymore so at least I can say I saw one playoff win in my adult life.

The Clippers just didn't want to sign Tobias at what he's gonna cost this summer with several teams having a lot of cap space. They got something for someone they didn't want back at what he was going to cost. It was less a move to tank and more a move to get something rather than nothing.

Yeah, the obvious contextual differences between the two situations should be pretty obvious.

I'm not sure the Clippers were looking to move Harris but when the Sixers come with 2 first round picks Shamet TWO 2nds (from Detroit who isn't exactly awesome) AND now the Clippers will have a bunch of cap space and they don't have to worry about signing Harris to a big deal they can sigh someone else or whatever they want to do. That's a hell of a haul for a team that's rebuilding on the fly. So the Clippers return for Blake Griffins is now 3 first round picks three 2nds cap space and Avery Bradley. Reminder they came out pretty good on that Chris Paul deal with a guy they had to move to one specific team.
