Re: Top Ten Worst Signings during Thibs Era
Thibs has made a number of mistakes, but without him this franchise doesn't likely doesn't make the playoffs last year continuing the worst streak in all of sports. He shook up the ole country club bullshit Glen Taylor was used to and it was necessary. It's ironic that Thibs brought his own country club vibe to the mix by creating the Timberbulls.
His era is closing shut and I think the writing is on the wall. 2018-19 will be his last season with this franchise and hopefully the following brass will take what he's done and continue to improve upon it.

Perhaps we wouldn't have made the playoffs last season if not for Thibodeau. But it's hard to know where this team would have finished last season if Flip had lived or if the Wolves had hired a better PBO and head coach than Thibodeau. It's a huge stretch to give Thibodeau any credit given the situation we're in now. As PBO he gave us Butler and Taj, who were keys to one season in which the team barely secured the 8th seed. Meanwhile, he allowed the Butler situation to develop as he continued to build his Timberbulls team around a clearly digruntled and problematic Jimmy Butler. There is no sign of any plus from Thibodeau as head coach. He did no better than Sam Mitchell coaching the team he inherited from Sam his first season and we saw no sign that this team overachieved at all last season. All in all, Thibodeau squandered an opportunity to make the most out of a lot of really good assets - young talented players and high draft picks. It was his job to understand what he had or didn't have in Wiggins and either develop him into something good or deal him when he still had value around the League. It was his job to understand what he had in Gorgui as well. The list goes on and on.
So while Thibodeau isn't David Kahn caliber bad. He's not evenas good as McHale, who delivered multiple seasons of playoff basketball culminating in a trip to the Western Conference finals.
