I mention need trading him in the game thread. Last night was a great story mist if us will remember for a long time. But given his injury history and age do the Wolves sell high, or hope he can remain a positive this season, knowing that winter be able to afford him next year?
The appeal hearing is coming up in 2 weeks. There is a lot more uncertainty with him as an asset that goes beyond his injuries. He could easily need time away from us this year if the appeal goes south for him.
I know nothing about that, what is the hearing about?
Pretty nasty stuff regardless if he's actually guilty of a crime. It was 2013 so I would hope he's a different person now (?), but yeah...not a good look.
He is still a long way from a criminal conviction and seems to be pretty resolute about committing no criminal wrongdoing as he actually had the matter go to court, which is unusual in this type of civil case. But there could be a circumstance where this starts taking up so much of his time and a subpoena could be requested if new information came to light. Either way it's not anything someone wants to be wrapped up in, especially in this day and age. And I think there could legitimately be a scenario where the team and NBA would want to distance themselves from DRose quickly if it ever did become a criminal issue or even a civil liability.
Understood that it may not be a "crime" in the legal sense. Doesn't make it any less nasty. It was 5 years ago though. We do need to give people an opportunity to change and mature. I certainly hope he has.
But yeah, what you describe above will definitely keep other teams at bay for now I suspect. Like I said, any plus-level contribution we get from him is gravy.

I've spent a few minutes reading a few different articles and I'm no closer to a conclusion on this. There is a ton of stuff to go through if you really want to know one way or another. I think there is a real chance the guy is actually innocent of wrongdoing. What chance? Idk it's certainly much less than 50% but there is some things that don't seem to add up...either way you look at it. I always think when you have someone rich and famous it makes the truth even more difficult to be sure of. There are incentives either way.
Regardless unless the woman and her Lawyers have come up with something new (seems unlikely) it doesn't seem like this appeal will be successful. Of course you never know.

The trial itself may be submitted for evidence in California. Laws about the definition of consent vary from state to state and apparently Rose testimony didn't provide much in the way of showing an understanding of consent as it relates to alcohol and drug use. Tough to know but at present he is certainly innocent and not liable in the eyes of the law.

Right. And I'm taking this with a grain of salt too. He took over 600 dribbles and got hot. Anyone can do it. But if we can keep him healthy for 25 minutes and get that effort, then hell yeah.
