Yeah he's exactly the same of what I remembered from his last stint with the Wolves. Awful. The way people were talking up his signing I assumed it was a different player.
Did you guys watch the game? Were there just a bunch of open 3's that he didn't take that I missed? No. He was covered the whole game. The solution to the problem isn't taking heavily contested 3's. It's generating more open one's of which he had maybe 1 chance to take a relatively uncontested 3 tonight.
Isn't it his job to get open and otherwise not fuck up? He did neither but whatever. One bad game for Tolliver, I hope he gets better.
I didn't realize it was so easy to just get open. Why doesn't everyone do it? He's not Ray Allen running around screen after screen. He's a floor spacer meaning he stands on the 3pt line and dribble penetration drawing his defender is what gets him open. Tyus and Rose both were not good in that regard tonight hence no open looks for Tolliver.
What I didn't understand was all the times Taj switched when he didn't have to and Wiggins or another Wing was right there. Taj got cooked when he was guarding the guy below the FT line. They need to clean that up.

So was he open or not? I don't know why your holding water for him tonight. Did you see the missed dunk, him curl off on a fast break, or Betrans hit two huge 3s in his face? The only time he was noticeable was when he was fucking up. Bad game, on to the next one.

Tyus played well on both ends. Loved the effort from Rose, but his shooting.... Yuck. Obviously, Teague played a great game tonight. I loved how aggressive he was and how he increased the pace of the offense. If he plays like this every game, he'll earn his $19 million.
KAT was horrible. Jimmy was OK late. You can tell he's not in game shape. But there's no way I'd blame this loss on Jimmy. Wiggins played well overall with a great hustle play stealing the ball during that stretch in the late 3rd or early 4th. But then we saw bad Andrew just let DeRozan go by in the 4th, looking lethargic, not moving his feet with any urgency or even putting his hands up.
I was worried about Wolves players being distracted by the whole Jimmy drama. But the only Wolves player who looked distracted was KAT. I'm a big fan of KAT. Nevertheless, I'll say unequivocally that he needs to get his head out of his ass and toughen up - a lot!!
I agree with everything you said here. I'm not even mad at Kat. Kat is so talented but seems like he missed out on the little things. Probably the thing he needs to improve the most on is setting screens.
I didn't think Tyus play that well. Just my opinion though.
I also thought the last play wasn't that bad. Rose was legit the 4th option on that play. Spurs shut down the 1st three options. Then Rose just had a bad shot after he beat his guy. It was better then straight iso ball at the end of the games last year

Lip, Wig played 37 minutes and spent most of the night chasing Derozan around. I think the play you're referencing is when Derozan beat him off the dribble and got to the rim. I would ask how do you not give any help on that? He's one of the best offensive players in the game. Funny you didn't mention Butler giving up the last 6 points to Derozan.

I think it is a new defensive system. We switched more off ball this game then all of last year. I liked it.
We got killed by Lamrcus but he is an all nba player last year. That is what he does. Tip my hat

Yeah no shit. Wiggins guaeded DeRozan only when Jimmy was on the bench. But it was Jimmy getting worked most of the night. Jimmy's only inspired D was against their bench with their 3rd and 4th string PGs throwing it directly in his hands. Wiggins played great tonight on both sides of the ball.

He was not open because our guards who played with him went 5-19 with 3 assists. Don't exactly need to play help defense against that duo. I'm not the one going in on the guy who went 0-1 and was only a -3 as the 5th option on the floor.

You say he made no impact because he's incapable of making an impact by himself, I'm saying he made no impact because he played bad. It's splitting hairs, he made no impact. Was it the most important storyline? No. You're right, we should just ignore the 5th option who makes no impact offensively and watches Betrans bomb clutch 3s in his face.
A rather fun opener all things considered, although the win was there for the taking...damn missed layups. Great to be in the game on the Spurs home court when KAT is having such an awful game. Thibs' rotations were better than we have seen, and the defense showed some potential. I was pleasantly surprised with the energy we showed. We'll win the next one, and I think we have an outside chance of being 3-1 going into Toronto.
