Thibodeau has three years left on his five-year that deal that was worth about $40 million. Is he coaching for his job? "No, no, the only thing now is that we are starting to play games and I am asking him to concentrate on coaching and the GM Scott Layden will help to see if any trades are available," Taylor said. - via Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Glen also said he's going to trade Butler "to get a player or two...". What an idiotic thing to say.
I've tried so hard to see Glen in a positive light and I've defended him often. But I'm done. He is totally clueless. And he must be surrounded by a bunch of sycophants who don't challenge him.
This is why I have the team down for only 28 wins, despite the talent to win a lot more. Taylor clearly can't see that Thibs has already lost the team. Now we get to witness a bunch of games of joyless offense and no defense. Taylor, as usual, is the last to see a need for change and is going to give Thibs at least 50 games to hang himself.
Crank up the lottery machine.....
I guess that's the good news. Glen's approach should land us a high lottery pick. The the bad news is that it's unlikely we'll have a good PBO in place to make the most of that pick.

Suppose what Van Gundy said is true. How could any Wolves fan with a spec of pride in the franchise support him at this point? I think every fan should be as angry as I am. Jimmy has shit on the entire team and state. For some reason i still care about the Wolves and their future. At a minimum I'm going to expect the employees to care as much as i do.
I think you are mistaking supporting him with he's getting paid 20 million to win us games so his ass should be on the court earning that money. I frankly don't care about any of their feelings. Show up and play some damn basketball that you get paid to play. It's called being a professional. I don't understand how Jimmy is affecting your pride in the team and associating this as an assault on Minnesota is crazy. First off. What in the last 15 years has earned pride for being a fan of this franchise? Second off. He hasn't said one bad thing about the state. He's not asking out because it's Minnesota. He's asking out because of money and teammates. It's time to be a grown up. Earn your paycheck. And then don't let the door hit you on the way out. I don't get how Jimmy is the one that is ruining basketball in Minnesota. Everyone on the team and in the organization has let this happen and nobody stepped up to him. There's no pride to be recovered from that. The franchise is a joke and has been a joke for the last 15 years. Jimmy is not the one person who's gonna bring it all down. It's taking a massive group effort from everyone to enable this. How is this the tipping point of losing respect for the organization? They frankly shouldn't have any left from anyone at this point anyway.
I can't believe it, but I agree with everything Khans said. If we can't find a good trade deal then might as well play him. The feelings things is getting old, we aren't good enough to have feelings. The Warriors get to have feelings, the Wolves just gotta suck it up and play. I also don't understand the whole "pride" argument by you Cool. Maybe I'm missing something. This team has been one of the worst organizations, not in basketball, but in ALL of sports. This is well documented on this board. So what pride? I just enjoy shooting the shit with you guys, and reading your info and takes. It's like a nice little escape, but I don't go around bragging I'm a Wolves fan (don't hid it, but just don't care). There is nothing to be prideful about if Jimmy leaves, or if he stays. We are still losers. Let's at least sit back and enjoy the circus cause we all have first row seats anyway

I'm not worried about the "feelings" of KAT or Wiggins. I want Butler traded because I know if he's not he'll walk and we'll get nothing for him. And feelings aside, Butler's presence will be a distraction - a distraction to fans and his teammates. It's not about "feelings" it's about focus. Butler's presence will likely compromise the super-intense focus you need to win in the NBA. Every Wolves players with play with Jimmy knowing at some point this season he won't be there anymore. This is ridiculous. Trade Butler and fire Thibodeau -- not necessarily in that order.

I'm out of town so I won't be at the game Friday, Lip, but i suspect you will be. If you can catch a glimpse of Taylor's face when Thibs inevitably gets booed in introductions, let us know his expression...that should give us some indication of what he plans to do with Thibs. I suspect Tom is still on a very short leash.
If you want the best return for Jimmy Butler Glen just come out and said pretty much what makes a ton of sense. From SVG or JVG or Bobby Marks etc everyone they said the problem the Wolves have is that there is not a unified front etc becasue of the comments from Glen. They all said that showed a point of weakness. Glen just unified the Wolves publicly. If you want Thibs fired fine let that happen a few months from now, but for me I want to see the team do well enough to not suck and so we can actually get a return for Jimmy that helps move this team forward not kinda tread water (taking back a bad contract without enoug assets back in the deal). Again let Thibs have a chance to redeem himself or get himself fired. Like LST said Thibs is not safe but some assurances from the owner publicly doesn't hurt at this point for this season. Keep in mind Glen wised up a few weeks after giving Milt assurances and being open to keeping Sam around. Yep it didn't work out but I don' think those guys were the answer either.
Meanwhile don't be afraid to read up on possible fiture coaches or GMs....or spending time outside.

Glen is a genius. I mean he is doing a soft tank keeping Thibs! And KG said tonight that Taylor doesn't know shit about basketball!. =)
People have said that Thibs has backed Butler or hasn't spoken out against him. Thibs doesn't do that type of thing. He will say someone need to make the right play but he rarely singles out a guy for something negative. He doesn't give you much when he speaks about any given situation so I think that is important context. Some of his comments the last few days could be seen as saying Butler needs to do things the right way. I do think that he is letting it go too much but JVG said If Butler went off like he was reported to have done he said no coach including Thibs would be happy about it. Again if you want Thibs fired and he is basically backing Butler and not other guys...it wont be long...

The trade deadline isn't till February. Rushing a deal just for the sake of a deal would be vintage Wolves. Putting pressure on yourself (thinking Glen here) to trade Jimmy within a quick time frame is just dumb. Distraction to fans? What fans? We are all that's left, the casual fans might tune in for the drama but will quickly leave. Again. We are losers with or without Jimmy. How hard core fans having an opinion affects the on court results I have no idea.
Most players on this team won't be on this team in a few years, who cares if they think he might get traded in the near future? Seems most of the vets like him, I doubt it distracts them. It goes back to the main point Khans made of be pros and just play basketball. If you feel that players will get distracted by jimmy then you do care about their feelings. Tell the players just to take that stuff, crumble it up and bury it deep inside their hearts. It might cause heart attacks later in life, but at least they won't be distracted. Problem solved.
Wiggins getting criticized again by some people. At least it isnt Jimmy this time.
Towns buying breakfast for all the Wolves staff this morning and Wiggins doing a nice donation thing. Neither really add up to a ton of money but its nice stuff to see. Also Butler has done some nice stuff in his career. I don't think he is some bad dude.
