Makes everybody that we started to hate just-a-little-less... still imminently hate-able. I don't buy 1/2 of what Butler says at this point. And I think Thibs + Layden still have to go after what transpired.
It remains so very embarrassing and inept for everybody involved.
It's frustrating to me that Butler never says what it was that made him want to leave. He says he loves Thibs and the team was clearly improving, so what was it? The climate? KAT's cliches? The post-game food? Shame on Reddick for not asking what everyone wants to know.
All I know is Butler is out now with a groin injury, and anyone who has ever had one knows how they can linger...and recur if you come back too early. Unless it's the most minor of tweaks, this Butler vacation could be longer than most. Philly played well last night without him, but it will be interesting to see how they hold up defensively without him, Saric and especially RoCo.

I wouldn't expect Redick to ask that question. They're in the brotherhood together.
But it's on the media, including Rachel Nichols, to ask those questions. Likewise, it's on the media (and Taylor) to get answers from Thibs about why he did nothing (and helped compromise the teams' playoff chances) by allegedly ignoring Butler's trade requests for as long as he did.

Taylor implied that he was aware of Thibs desire to try and keep Butler when he was interviewed. From Taylor's interviews a few weeks ago it sounded Thibs told Taylor he wanted to wait it out for a bit and see what happens and that Taylor was complicit.
The only thing when I was listening to the interview that was really getting to me was the reality that everyone is ignoring in this whole scenario is that Jimmy threw games this year. Mr. Effort was on the court and stopped trying, all of the other entitled bullshit is one thing. Reddick in his own way even tried to address the not practicing and sitting out games. But the last game Jimmy played for us he clearly didn't try, and in any sport that to me is the ultimate sin. Especially from a guy that fashions his image about winning and hard work.

Sure. There's a lot of irony and hypocrisy in a lot of things Butler has said or done.
Funny how MR." I don't lie", has said the players weren't the problem, and that he loves Thibs (who is complete control of the team), so who is left. Imagine the gall of a FO executive to tell Jimmy he has to practice. I mean it isn't like he was being paid 20 mil or anything.

When I listened to that part I was thinking it had to be Scott Layden saying he had to practice. Which is honestly kinda funny. I also thought it was interesting he said he had various conversations with the front office that said they were close to a trade so that's why Butler said he wasn't going to practice. Remember that Miami deal is universally reported as very close so there probably is SOME truth there. Butler also said he only took one shot in the infamous 3rd stringers beating the starters. Those were really bout he only interesting parts to me...well and him talking about the mini van. That's just kinda funny.
Oh one other thing. I don't think Butler really gets how his way with people runs people the wrong way. I actually kinda believe he actually cares and maybe isn't a flat out dick but he doesn't get it and even kinda says he does it wrong but he doesn't seem like he is really willing or able to change. Glad he moved on maybe it will work better somewhere else.
