Saric comparison

Post by D-Mac [enjin:19736340] »

Hey guys, long time reader of these boards, first time commenting. I've been watching a lot of Saric and I've gotta say that the way he moves, and his style and toughness really remind me a lot of KLove. I watch a lot of other teams, so it's just a coincidence that I'm comparing him to one of our former players. I know it might seem weird, but if you think about it, it's closer than the "rich man's Bjelly" comparisons I"ve seen (among others). Obviously his rebounding numbers are way lower and Love has had more opportunities to be a volume shooter/scorer, but the slow feet, craftiness/toughness, good passing for a big, and most of all, the footwork at the 3 point line and the form on their shots are interestingly very similar. Haven't seen this comparison anywhere, so I had to throw it out.

That's an interesting comp. I've also had the thoughts about he would compare to Love in some ways but your commentary was good and a lot farther than I went.

Some interesting stuff on Saric...I just listened to the Raised by Wolves podcast and the Philly guy that works for The Athletic Derek Bodner said Saric is a guy that's smart and it going to player hard and will own up to anything he does wrong. He said he plays with an intensity that will likely inspire teammates. I think one thing we forget about Love is that the guy played with an intensity all over the floor. Remember he was compared to a young David Lee who was another guy that just got a lot of garbage buckets rebounds etc. Saric rebounding numbers don't look that good and I'm not suggesting he is anywhere near Love or maybe even David Lee but...last year he was third in rebounding behind Embiid (11) and Simmons (8). I don't know how much he played with both of those guys but if thats here he played a lot of minutes it's kinda tough to expect him to pull down a bunch of rebounds next to those guys. Hopefully he knows how to box out and then teaches some of our guys to do the same. Lol

was thinking the same thing, Monster... Saric isn't the rebounder that Love is, but if he were playing with league average guys at those positions instead of Embid and Simmons, he likely would have averaged closer to 8 (instead of 6-7 per game)

Welcome! Interesting comparison. I see him more in the Bjelly-Doncic-Mirotic mold, but then again, I haven't REALLY watched him closely. We will find out soon enough!

First, welcome to the board.

Second, that's quite an interesting comparison indeed and one worthy of being in the debate for sure. I'm looking forward to see him play here.

Q, I agree I think Mirotic is a better one. And if Dario can get to where Mirotic is at so far this year, I'd be pretty happy with the trade.
