Thibs botched the start of the 4th quarter. That wasn't the time to steal some minutes of rest.

As for Jimmy, Thibs shoulda let Jones start the 4th at PG. It's not like Thibs is gonna give him that much PT ever again anyway.

Jimmy's an asshole, which doesn't bother me as long as he plays well. He as well as the rest of the team, stunk in the 4th. Jimmy being an asshole doesn't excuse Wiggins' inability to dribble and Towns being demolished by Draymond Green physically on the court.

Jimmy cant support his team, but had no problems cheering for the opposing team.

Jimmy's net rating is 2nd worst of the starters behind Teague. He's been a negative so far this year overall. He's in no place to criticize anyone with the way he's been playing.

Wow. The looks on his "teammates" faces tell the tale. It's unbelievable that the Wolves haven't dealt him.

Nunnally in the 4th quarter makes complete sense to me. Why? The Wolves has 1 pG available after Rose wasn't able to play anymore. Butler as the PG made sense. Why Nunnally? If you watched him off the ball McKinnie was absolutely glued to him. The ball went tot he other side of the floor McKinnie took maybe a half step away from Nunnally. Nunnally provides spacing even if he didn't make a shot.

What I saw at the start of that 4th quarter was the Wolves being down an other ball handler and the Warriors smelled blood and they came out and pressed up on everyone and the Wolves couldn't make them pay. Is that on the coaching staff? Sure. Pretty tough though when you have a roster like it's constructed where really you have a number of guys that aren't really shot creators overall and you are down 2 of those guys in teague and Rose. Tyus was put in a tough position and did the best he could and overall ended up with a pretty solid game all things considered.

Now on Butler...yes he was playing hero ball. I also thought whatever offense we were trying to run didn't help. That's on Thibs. However the Wolves has been playing some terrific offensive ball including not turning the ball over much of the game. Also again at times give the Warriors credit for their defense.

Towns had some terrific defensive possessions as did the Wolves. After that rough 1st quarter they played much better. the Wolves transition defense continues to look better than last year. Espn has the Warriors for 23 fast break points but I've seen much worst from the Wolves in the past. They at least were back on a number of plays and made the Warriors work for their shots.

45 threes from the Wolves tonight. Wiggins led the team with 9 taken and hit 4. He is still a flawed player but he kept us in the game and played decent defense at worst

Okogie wasn't as good in that first half but pretty good game from that young man.

People will probably laugh at this but this Wolves team if reasonably healthy can win some games without Butler. The biggest reason is the bench. Tolliver is a very solid player and gives us a 3 point shooting element we have to had in forever. Dieng even if he struggles defensively at times is still a very functional player that helps you on offense in a number of ways. Okogie!! Rose has his merits and obviously Tyus. Maybe those guys fall apart as tile goes on but right now they look legit. I think Nunnally and Deng can help also and we haven't even seen KBD in any meaningful minutes. We expected thisbteam to just fold up to some extent as the season started. Other than that Bucks game where it was a very good team that steam rolled them and they didn't have it they have played hard and have played with at least the level of competence as last year. I have no idea what or when they will actually do something with Butler but I don't think this season is over if it happens. It could be but Intuink the Wolves have a chance of still sticking around. Thibs is absolutely emphasizing some different things as a coach as well which is a pleasant turnaround.

Monster, I don't disagree that this team can win a few games without Butler...we're clearly a better team with him, but we have shown that we can still put points on the board without him. It may not be a lost season, and Okogie provides a reason to watch.

I was traveling during the game so couldn't watch it, but I did notice that the Wolves had ONE turnover through 3 quarters...and they finished with only 5 despite a tough 4th quarter. That's incredible! And it's terrific to be leading GS by 4 after 3 quarters on their court. They're better than us, but we had a shot.

A lot of Butler ripping in the game thread and I'm sure some of it is warranted. But despite the 0-8 on 3's, he was still 21-3-5 on 10-23 shooting, and (I suspect) played some tough defense too. He's almost certain to be gone soon, and we will miss him...at least on the court.

Monster - I agree with your take on the Wolves without Butler. In spite of his slow start offensively this season, Towns is clearly a better overall player right now than in his previous 3 seasons. Okogie adds a lot. Gorgui looks better and Tolliver was a nice addition. Tyus has struggled with his shot so far this season, but he continues to be a terrific plus/minus guy and I see him taking his game to the next level as he gets more minutes. If he stays healthy, Rose has proven he will be a significant positive force for the team, both on the court and in the locker room, this season. Wiggins remains a wild card, but he's been giving great effort so far this season. I agree with you on Nunnally and Deng. I've been impressed so far by Nunnally's overall game. He has a pretty good handle, good instincts and decent athleticism to go with his advertised 3-point shooting. And yes, I see improvements in Thibodeau's coaching.

I need more clarity on this GIF. What was the score when this was happening? It looks to me like he is having some fun mocking the Warriors fans. If the Wolves were ahead (as they were much of the game) I kind of like the enthusiasm he is showing. At least he is engaged unlike the other guys on the bench. Butler is a clown...always has been. But I don't see much in this GIF that makes me think of him unfavorably.

Look, there's a lot that Jimmy does that we can pick on, and that is well documented in the Jimmy hate thread. But making an issue out of Jimmy being Jimmy on the bench seems a little over the top to me.

Yeah, there's some reason for optimism here despite the drama. And I agree that even a Thibs hater like me (copyright Abe) has to give him some credit for the offensive turnaround. Pace is much better, fast break points are way up, and we even had 11 more 3-point attempts than GS. And I haven't even had to rip him for playing his starters too long. I suspect thibs has something to do with the more watchable style of play, and I give him credit for some of it.

(I still want him replaced though).

I agree with your take LST. On the other hand I don't really have a problem with people getting on Butler about this to some extrnt either. My issue? He is playing a ton of minutes and not in shape yet and he is vigorously waiving a towel? Come on man get in your rest! :)
