Thibs played Cov 41 minutes? And our bench was playing well. Thibs will try and burn him out too.

Yeah, i don't get what thibs is doing with these minutes. Wiggs and teague arent fully healthy yet, but he still trots them out for almost 40 minutes on a night when okogie and tyus are playing well.

I get the minutes alarm... but it must have been contagious.

Minnesota had two players over 37 minutes.
New Orleans had three players over 38 minutes, with Davis at 41.

Outside of mirotic, the pels starters are healthy. Wiggs and teague are playing through nagging injuries. I mean thibs has already played rose too minutes and it's caught up.

I get that he needs bodies out there, but when the bench are playing well, we don't need to risk further injury.

Sure. But we heard the same things last year when the Wolves were arguably the healthiest team in the league.

I'm not absolving Thibs from playing guys too many minutes. But we should probably be honest about it a bit more often and not give excuses "but but but it's different" when other teams do the same thing.

So Thibs gets none of the credit for the great start and ball movement the team showed to open the game and all the blame when the 3rd quarter iso ball began...

His sets get predictable and tired. It was clear the Pels woke up in the 2nd half and bottled up Teague, who dribbled aimlessly around on numerous possessions. Can't believe we don't use KAT more often in the high post or even get Wiggins the ball at the elbow and allow him to face up. Instead it's endless Teague pick and rolls/pops or trying to iso Taj in the post. Zero imagination.

New Orleans' bench is inferior to Minnesota's. Davis hardly sat in the 2nd half, which frustrated me because I knew we could get some separation with him out of the game. Their starters "beat" our starters if you look at +/- but our bench kicked some butt when he was sitting.

Yesterday the Wolves bench was better. When Randle plays like that... the Pelicans bench looks shorter than ever.

The guy came in as a 18/9 guy off the bench.

Yeah, Randle should really be helping them. But Britt Robson said in his in-game tweeting that Randle shouldn't be playing right now. I don't know, is he hurt? I get why the Pels' starters had to play so many minutes last night, but I don't get why Thibs found it necessary to play 2 gimpy starters who were "questionable" pre-game 37 and 38 minutes, especially when the guys who could have taken their places were healthy and a combined +31. It worked fine last night, but I think it's a flawed strategy long-term.

I've said before that I see some positive differences in Thibs' coaching this year, and that's good...I do give him some credit for the faster pace and increased 3's this year. But Q's reply to your post is also valid.

Did he say that because Randle sucked?

Because Randle had a 17/12 game two days prior. And a 22/15 game two days before that.

Teague NEVER gets the benefit of the doubt. Was it his fault they were doing all those post ups or swinging it to a guy like Wiggins who holds the ball for 5 seconds before doing anything with it? It wasn't all on him and JVG mentioned it. After the game Thibs said they needed to move the ball more. Was Teague part of the problem and not part of the solution? Yes but it's not all him. Plus with no Rose the level of Shot creation on the roster was low. That's why Tyus didn't play much it was pretty simple to see why he didn't get more run than he did.

Also for all the good Okogie did he also had a couple plays where he fumbled the ball for turnovers. Could he have played more? Yeah ainthink do. It was reported After the game someone asked Thibs about playing Covington at the 4 and Thibs smiled and joked you want to find him more minutes? Lol

Yeah, I see those solid games that Randle had recently. But Robson is implying that he needs some time off: "Julius Randle needs to rest and get well. Compromised." I don't know because Randle wasn't in when I was watching, but Robson at least thinks that he is hurt.

Britt sometimes isn't the best at knowing some of these day to day details. I think he got confused and thought it was Randle was hurt when it was Mirotic that's been having the problems with his ankle. It was too bad Mirotic rolled it bad again.

Teague seems to have some Christian Ponder disease sometimes - dribbles around and can't make a decision and ends up throwing up a shot or forcing a teammate to throw up a shot as the 24 runs out. Tyus has more of an intentional, strategic approach it seems - Teague just dribbles around and hopes for the best.
