If Adebayo was a part of it I would agree with him, but we have no proof of that.

Woj making it sound like a great financial decision makes no sense. Covington and 16-20 mil for Saric is still less than what Butler is looking for on a max deal.

The wolves could still look to move Saric, and I am pretty sure they could get a middle first for him.

According to Woj, Miami refused to offer Richardson again after initially offering him. That was an example he gave of the deals getting worst. Do you believe Woj's first report that Richardson was offered with Waiters, but choose to deny his recent report that Miami refused to include him subsequently? That's pretty selective, but you can choose what and what not to believe. The bottom line is that Woj very plugged in and has proven to be a highly reliable NBA reporter. You can choose not to believe him, but I think he's earned the trust that I'm putting in his report.

And a month ago Covington AND Saric were not on the table together and we got both hence the value went up over time in that scenario. Sounds pretty selective to me to only talk about the Miami deal as a way to prove how his value fluctuated when the deal we made literally was an example of his value going up over time.

Cmon Kahns, you're better then that. To even consider Covington and Saric as a serious offer alone is insanity.

The moral of the story and one I agree with is we had a guy in Tibs making this deal with his best interest in mind. Very short sighted, thinking this year only. Not 2-3 years from now, as well as this year. I have no problem if people think this is a decent deal and like it over the Miami. I happen to think the Miami deal was much better but that's debatable.

How is this move short sighted?!?!?

We traded a going on 30 player for a locked in wing, a forward prospect that we control, and a 2nd rounder..

The initial butler trade was short sighted, this is not.

You could make the argument that Philly is making the same short sided mistake trade we made 2 years ago for Jimmy.

People are also worried about covingtons age, but he doesnt have a lot of miles on that body.

Richardson 25: 5828 (reg) + 517 (playoffs) = 6,345 minutes played
Covington 27 (soon to be 28): 8984 (reg) + 281 (playoffs) = 9,229minutes played
Butler 29 : 15,405 (reg.)+ 1627 (playoffs) = 17,032 minutes played

3 year age gap between covington and richardson, but basically 1 season difference in minutes.

100%

We took a step back, bolstered our full rotation, and handed the reigns over.

Its anything but short sighted.

Its a commitment to the future.

I think the trade was solid. We added an all nba defender who can hit 3s who is in the prime of his career and is under team control for a good price.

Saric is a nice young piece who is only 24 and can grow and develop. Can slot into our starting PF spot for the next 2 years and the wolves can make a decision on him after that, he is a RFA so if we want him he is ours.

I know people are worried about Saric and Kat combo defensively but I have thought Kat has made significant strides in that area this year.

We added no bad contacts that we can't trade like waiters.

We can now if we want get to 22 million in expirings with taj and Bayless. What happens if the Knicks think they can get Durant. Would you be willing to take Hardaway off their hands to acquire a 1st round pick if that means they can acquire Durant. We have the expirings to do something like that now.

We now have 3 above average 3pt starters in Covington, saric and towns. With Wiggins also shooting a career high (still way to early in the season). We are starting to have the pieces to create a modern offense.

Now in the end it's still comes down to the development of Kat and Wiggins and how we draft. Hopefully one day we get better at that.

But at the end of the day we added 2 legit rotation players, an asset in an expiring contract and we have a legit pecking order the team. Hopefully we can build off this

It's just nice to have the drama over. I'm not overwhelmed by the return, but we have a good, young nucleus now to build around. One mistake has been sent packing and one to go. But at least i can say I am really looking forward to watching this team now.

They're not attaching a first round pick to get rid of their leading scorer. They have room to sign a max player already. They're fully on board with wanting that pick to be as high as possible to pair up with Knox/Porzingis. The Knicks aren't gonna act desperate.

Besides, the Wolves shouldn't want Hardaway here as long as Wiggins is here. They might as well be the same player.

If they want to add two max players they need to get rid of Hardaway contract. There are rumors of Durant to the Knicks if another star would join him.

Howard beck and bill simmons talked about this on their pod on friday, saying the Knicks think they would have a chance at Durant if they trade Hardaway.

Not saying it's a slam dunk but Hardaway is still a bad contract and the wolves are one of the teams in the NBA that have the contracts to get them off of that contract

Top 10 in Catch-and-Shoot 3PM in 2017-18:

1. Robert Covington (189)
2. Klay Thompson (187)
T-3. Allen Crabbe (177)
T-3. Wayne Ellington (177)
T-3. Paul George (177)
6. Joe Ingles (161)
7. Anthony Tolliver (157)
8. Dario Saric (155)
9. Eric Gordon (154)
10. Trevor Ariza (151)

Minnesota has acquired three of the ten players on this list with two obviously coming from the Jimmy Butler trade. I think the Wolves just leaped into the top half of the league in terms of 3P-shooting too. What a bizarre, and necessary, development from a year or two ago.

Saric just gets it. I know he's not an imposing athlete, but the guy who knows and understands the game while having the skills to boot is better than the athlete who doesn't know where to be or what to do when he gets there.
