Jimmy Butler Trade Ideas

Let's look at this in a different angle. Regardless of appropriate value in a Butler trade is there a realistic player you would be excited about adding to the roster?

I think Tobias Harris is realistic and would be a nice player for this team going forward. He isn't cost controlled but how much will he actually get next summer? He turned down 5 years 80 million and that makes sense. It's not gonna be in the very distant future players that are good staters are gonna be making 15 million a year or more again and Harris could be much better than guy with just a couple NBA skills. He just turned 26 in July and is pretty versatile. I'm not saying he is the guy I would target but I would be excited about adding him and hope we kept him around.

Monster -- I think that's the best way to look at this. I too could get excited over Tobias. I could also get excited over a top 5 draft pick, but not plausible unless Boston somehow agrees to relinquish their 2019 Sacramento pick in some kind of deal for Butler -- an unlikely eventuality. I could maybe get excited about the following players talked about as a possible return for Butler:

1. T. Harris (Clippers - he scores, shoots 3s, rebounds and he's still young)
2. Otto Porter or Bradley Beal (Wizards)
3. Knox (Knicks -- mentioned in media but highly unlikely the Knicks would include him)
4. LaVert (Nets - Maybe could get excited, but would need Nets 1st rounder too)
5. Josh Jackson (Suns)
6. Saric (Sixers)

I don't think we need to include Dieng in a deal here, why lower the value of what we are getting back, and I just don't see us signing a big time player next Summer if we did dump Dieng's salary.

I like the Otto Porter idea, and if Washington feel like Porter is a better all around player for them than Beal I would take Beal. I see he actually played all 82 games last year after some injury prone seasons.

Philly if we could get 3 of these assets I would take it, Saric, Covington, Fultz, one of the draft picks. After giving it some time to field offers I may take 2 of those assets if there is nothing better.

Hayward for Butler. I probably would do it, if and only if Hayward is healthy.

I wonder if Phoenix would take the risk. If we did something like Butler for Warren, Jackson, and Bridges. Phoenix would have the salary cap to sign Butler to team up with Ayton and Booker, and if they were able to dump Anderson off to someone they might actually be close in cap space to keep Butler and sign Irving next off season.

I think that's a really interesting idea. The Suns acquisition of Ariza suggests that they're running out of patience in that organization. I'd be up for a deal like the one you suggested with Josh Jackson as the centerpiece.

Good list Lip. Interesting you brought up Caris Lavert. I personally think the Nets have more interesting pieces than appears at first glance. Nobody absolutely jumps out (Danny L. From the Dunc' On podcast said Russel was a guy that came to his mind right away when theButler trade demand news happened) but there could be some moderatly intruiging guys and possible multiple chances to get someone worthwhile.

I'm down with you guys on the Suns. I know that it has been reported in the past that the sun's have made runs at Irving, Griffin and George via trade. I would be 100% down to look at a Jackson, bridges, bender and Anderson for butler, Taj and Patton.

The reason we do this is we get 2 young guys with potential in Jackson and Bridges. Bender has not been good but has a team option and still hits 3s. We take on Anderson 2 years to get the suns to give up on the young guys and he can still hit 3s. He also might be an asset next year as an expiring.

Suns do it because they can make a playoff push next year. Get the inside track on Jimmy and creates the cap space to add Jimmy and Irving next year. The suns take the risk of building a Irving/ Butler/ Booker/Ayton core.


The other team I look at is the bucks in Middleton

Wizards also in something like butler and Gibson for Beal and mahinmi. Beal and wall don't get along.

How about Butler and Patton to the Suns for Josh Jackson, Chandler and Milwaukee's 1st round pick?

How about Knox? I have to believe Butler could fetch him. May not get much more than that but it's enough for me.

4. Tobias Harris (I'm not as high on him as most since he's not a great defender, but the guys ahead of him bring it on both sides, but he's still a decent return).
5. Hayward (I prefer Brown, but he's unrealistic given trade matching factors)

If we don't snag one of these guys, I'd like to target bad teams who would give us unprotected first rounders and maybe a useful player: Nets (RHJ), Knicks (Nitilikina), Miami (Josh Richardson), Lakers (Ingram or Kuzma)

I don't think McCollum, Beal or Myles Turner are available or I'd include them somewhere on the top list.

How about Knox? I have to believe Butler could fetch him. May not get much more than that but it's enough for me.

We both like Knox. I'd be down with a Knox, Courtney Lee and some other filler for Butler deal. Lee could help some this year even although he makes 12 million next year too. It seems like the articles I saw a while ago that the Knicks were very enamored with Knox and have recently said they are gonna build with their youth etc but it's the Knicks still so who knows right? :)

Denver sends back Gary Harris

having a very good shooter that is not ball dominant next to wiggins and towns would be huge. Plus he's under contract for 3 more years and a true shooting guard.

Why would Denver do it. They have a ton of scorers but not a really good defender with a lot of grit.

Anyway, I think it's at least remotely believable and I think it would be a win for both teams.

I think the wolves would be better with Gary Harris than with Butler. Towns and Wiggins struggled playing next to him.
