Zach is not on the same level as KAT and Wiggins (and dare I say it, Ricky) and he should not get anywhere close to max money. I'd offer around 12 million a year and hope he feels loyal to the organization and wants to play with KAT, Wiggs and Ricky and wants to show he deserves a bigger deal down the road..
PS. The term "Big 3" is starting to become confusing. I prefer Big 2 (KAT & Wiggs) or Big 3 (with Ricky as third amigo)
No offense, but you are on some strong drugs or something. Guys like Alan Crabbe and Tyler Johnson (yeah, who???) just got deals at about $19MM per season last year. There is absolutely zero chance (even with his injury) he doesn't get at least this amount. My opinion, as others stated, he is getting a max deal as long as he can come back and play a portion of next season.
Would I sign him for that.....not likely. We desperately need a shooter, but it doesn't have to be Lavine. In fact, he is not an ideal fit for many of he reasons already brought up. In return, we won't get a 20 ppg scorer, but we could certainly aim for a good size SF that gets 10-12 ppg with solid defense. Maybe a Robert Covington type? I am not going to speculate on what guys will get, but I imagine he will get substantially less than Lavine.....only because high volume scorers ALWAYS get overpaid.
Hicks who peed in your cereal? You always have to be an Asshole and prick when you post. Seriously, get over yourself. As far as Zach, I don't think he is a good fit with Wiggins, so I want to sign him cheap or trade him. The exact number isn't so important but others mentioned $12 million and I'd be happy with that figure. If its $14 mill, I guess I could live with it. $20 million plus for a terrible plus/minus player coming off a serious injury is nuts.
Ricky....man you are the most thin-skinned girl I have ever encountered. No need to get your panties in a bunch when someone disagrees with your point of view. And I am simply pointing out that there is a zero % chance a guy like Lavine gets less money than guys like Crabbe and T. Johnson (they each scored 10 ppg or less when securing their new deals).....again, they each got $19MM last season, and the cap will continue to rise. Your "wish" for Lavine to sign for $12-$14 million is simply not even remotely possible given today's market values....injury or not. Heck, that $15-$20 million dollar player is becoming what mid-level players were about 4-5 years back.
And I too would LOVE to sign him for "cheap", the issue is that it just isn't realistic. I would certainly explore a S&T with Lavine, as I have no interest in signing a 6th man for a max deal.
Bigger than that is Wiggins is also a question mark in my book. I saw others commenting about last nights Portland game, and there were comments about his zero rebounds. Wig is, and always has been, a one-trick pony as well. I have on several occasions expressed my concern with a player of his size and athleticism not being able to contribute in any facet other than scoring. He was supposed to be a strong defender coming out of college, and he has been anything but. He is also not a max type impact player, but he will get that money. He is certainly young enough to expand his game, but at this point, he has shown what will be his core strengths moving forward. I don't expect a major transformation to his skill set or game. Again, I am all for exploring dealing Wiggins for the right piece.

Dumbass, I could care less if someone disagrees with me. But when someone starts making it personal, I will respond. You've come out of left field before and initiated unprovoked personal attacks on me. I don't know why you have this personal vendetta against me, but I did notice your prior Ricky Bashing and you being a fan of Porkchop. Its funny you call me a "thin skinned girl" as if that's some insult, but that describes you much more than me.
The logic that we should pay Zach max or near max money because other teams overpaid for marginal players, makes no sense. I like Zach and hope we keep him. But to pay him max or near max money because of fear of losing him is a recipe for disaster. We have two sensible options: (a) We sign Zach to a team friendly deal or (b) we trade him for whatever we can get and use his cap space to improve our team. By all accounts Zach likes it here and so he should want to sign a short term team friendly deal to prove his value. If not, I'm sure we can use his cap space to get a veteran who will be a better team fit for this club in addition to whatever a trade could yield us.

This injury can be worked to our advantafe
I agree 100%. We could have been forced to overpay out of obligation before. Now the only way we pay the max is if Zach truly earns it. This is why it is such a big decision. Best case scenario we somehow talk him into an extension at a Dieng like number and he turns into a monster offensive weapon. I don't think that is happening but it is something to dream about.

I'll continue to disagree with this take but if he comes back next year and is anywhere in the ball bark of what he did this year a team will offer the max and the wolves will have a tough decision on their hands is worth.
If he is good awful next year they might get a little discount on the max but do we want to give a guy money where he is coming off am ACL injury and was terrible that following year.
Just think if he didn't get hurt we could make a more informed decision on what to do with him.

He's just not going to come back and play well enough to potentially get a max. ACL injuries are two year injuries. I don't think that's something we should be worried about. He'll be lucky if he doesn't look bad with a drop in explosiveness that comes with ACL injuries.

That's why I think we are in a rough spot. We don't know how lavine will recover from the ACL injury and we don't know what he will look like in 2 years. But a team like the Nets could take chance on a guy like lavine because they can't add high end young talent because of Boston so taking a chance on lavine makes perfect sense for them
