I wonder what the price tag would be on Patrick Patterson. I think he would be a nice fit here as a compliment to Dieng because we need a perimeter oriented PF. How much would I spend on him though? He is a solid player but how much do you pay a guy that's never averaged 27mpg in his career for both good and not so good teams? I've always kinda like him as a player but I don't like the idea of overspending for a fringe starter. Ilyasova is another guy I would be interested in depending on the price. I actually like him more than Patterson.

I don't see any top level FAs (or players coming via trade) joining the Wolves. If it happens yay I guess but I'm not going to spend much time considering it. I'll be looking at solid upgrades or maybe undervalued guys that the Wolves can get. There could be some small trades the Wolves could make too. i honestly think the biggest jump for this team is going to be the current player on the roster playing for the same coach in the same system and knowing what they are supposed to do and maturing naturally. People are tired of hearing that but it is a big deal.

James Johnson, Amir Johnson, and Patrick Patterson will all probably get similar deals, $12-$15mil per?
I'm not a big fan of Ilyasova, sub-par defense and 5 teams in the last 1.5 years.

The reasons I prefer Patrick Patterson is because he has a proven 3pt shot, plays within the team, good pnr defender and inside defender. He doesn't block many shots; he just holds his position. 12% usage rate. Yes, he has never averaged more than 27mpg but Towns, Gorgui, Belly, and Patterson would make a good big man group.

This is the year we will have the cap space to overpay on two year deals. Those contracts would also fall off when KAT is getting his extension, and they would be expirings for the last season as trade bait if necessary.

I'm really hoping on one of Patterson, Jamychal Green, or either Johnson to bump Gorgui to the bench, and one of Ingles, Bogdanovic, or Tucker to replace Shabazz.

Add any 2 of those above to Rubio, Lavine, Towns, Wiggins, Gorgui, Belly, Dunn and that's a good rotation.

As for Ilyasova... he's fine. Nothing more. He'll be 30 and has never been one to move the needle in any meaningful way. If he can be had for cheap... sure. There are worse options. Probably better ones, too... hence all the movement.

I'm probably in the minority, but see no need to make any drastic changes - especially at the expense of our core group.

The biggest glaring hole is size on the wing - someone who can body up with the likes of the Paul George and Lebron James' of the league. My fav candidate is James Johnson. Hard nose two way player who can handle the ball, pass, score and defend. A two year deal worth around 36 mil should get it done.

Draft BPA with pick (Lauri Markannan?). Decline team option on Jordan Hill. Let Payne walk. Offer Bazz a two year 18 mil deal (take it or leave it). Resign Rush to the vet min. Bring LaVine off the bench as 6th man until he recovers completely. Sign a cheap rotation big man.

We just can't go into next year with KAT, Dieng and Belly as our frontcourt. 2 straight years of just inconsistent play and terrible defense says we need a more stable veteran in the frontcourt. We need a PJ Tucker on the wing, a Taj Gibson in the frontcourt and a Lou Williams in the backcourt. Zach may be that Lou Williams, he may not, but we need a scoring threat off the bench who can do it off the dribble. That's a lot to add in one offseason, but that's what we need plus the continued growth of our existing players to be a playoff team.

There needs to be a 3 - 5 year plan. We simply can not afford all those players with out jeopardising being able to resign Wiggins, LaVine and KAT. I agree with frontcourt toughness and defence being an issue, but believe toughness on the wing is the bigger issue. A Tucker or Johnson type player makes absolute sense - someone who can play the 3 and small ball 4. There's no reason KAT can't develop into a legit defender - he has all the tools.

If they don't use cap space this summer knowing this is the last time they can use it, I don't wanna hear about cap space again regarding this team. If Glen's not willing to spend, then it kinda lets you know how this story is going to end.

Zach probably won't be back until the middle of next season. And we simply can't start next season with Rush, Dunn or Tyus as our starting SG. Moreover, even when Zach returns his best role might be as our 6th man. If he comes back as a starter we'll definitely need a much better SG of the bench than Rush or anyone else on our current roster. Therefore, our top FA target should be a SG.

JJ Redick would be the perfect addition since he brings 3-point shooting and could be our starting SG or eventually settle in as our 6th man. Unfortunately, I have a hard time seeing how we could lure him away from the Clippers. And if not the Clippers, Redick's at a point in his career where he would likely sign with a championship contender if he leaves the Clippers. I'd pursue him, but I wouldn't expect to land him.

Tony Allen is another possibility. He'd bring defense and veteran savvy to the SG position in our starting lineup. He's a bit long in the tooth an doesn't bring much offense, but I think he'd be a good addition. I could see him leaving the Griz since they're really not going anywhere. The thought of coming in as a starter to lead a talented group of youngsters might appear to him, although like any goog free agent, we'd have to show him the money.

Sefolosha would be another good alternative to come in as our starting SG or SF alongside Wiggins. He's an excellent defender with good size and veteran savvy. He's getting up there in years, but still has some game I think.

I didn't know that zach was projected out until the middle of next season, but I don't know if that means we need to go after a SG in the draft/FA. A large opinion here is that Wiggins is better suited at SG until he fills out a bit and for that reason I wouldn't target Redick or Allen. But Sefolosha would be a great signing providing insurance at both positions, even if I view him as a bit injury prone.

If we were to sign Sefolosha, would you prefer to sign a PF/C type or a SF/PF type for a second free agent to add to Thib's tight rotation?
