If somehow the Wolves get burned by this trade, we should do our loved ones a favor and give up on this team.

I have finally some time to wrap some thoughts about Butler trade. I also like it generally a lot. I think Butler is just correct type of player to help Wiggins and Towns to improve themselves especially in defensive side of ball. He also gives finally Wolves a ball handler that is able to score himself or find open guys with his passing.

I think that one of the biggest benefits is that now Wolves won't need to worry whether signing Lavine to max contract next summer will be correct move. I like Lavine in general and especially the fact that he has shown steady improvement in each year of his career. Still his recovery from ACL injury bothers me that much that I think it would have been risky to give extension to him this summer and next summer it might have been quite probable that if he would have made successful recovery from injury, some team would have given him max offer that Wolves would have needed to match. I feel much more comfortable about giving Butler max contract year later when Ricky's current contract ends. If Butler is still playing same level than last year, he is well worthy of max money.

Tough not to like that. What a guy. None of it seems fabricated or forced either.

I agree. Nothing fake or phony about him. Everything he said is backed by the way he's played and improved over the past 7 seasons. I have to believe that KAT and Wiggins are excited even though they may be said about losing their friend Zach.

I do agree with the majority of your statement. As for the above statement, not so much.

As for my opinion; He's not an idiot. I put little reading into for these initial interviews. Everything is so PG. They are trained for this. Lots of the content felt forced or transcript like to me. The most honest was the comment about "being locked in for HOWEVER MANY minutes he asks you to play". That itself forces me to question his overall opinion of Thibs. Great coach, yes. stubborn - a certainty. Overall, perfect PR pitch and nothing more. I'm much more interested to hear his interviews halfway into the season, and even more so after the first season.

nice to have a recruiter on our team now! I love that he wants to woo players even better than him to Minnesota even though I will just take a allstar! We're seeing the star GM pull fall to the wayside these days anyways, players know now they have to power to talk amongst themselves and make their moves.

KAT's tweet to Jimmy Butler: "I was bringing Wolves to playoffs with or w/o you. I'm so happy to have someone to share the burden."

I sensed the Butler acquisition has touched a bit of a nerve with KAT. And that's a good thing! My read is that KAT perceives the Butler signing as a challenge to him and his ability to lead this team. That's how I would have expected KAT to react, but I would have predicted a more politically correct response like, "I look forward to playing with a proven allstar and veteran leader who can help us get to the next level." I love that KAT tweeted what I would have expected him to actually be feeling. KAT has a competitive fire in him. I saw it in him every game fighting for rebounds and fighting for low post position. Butler should help fuel that fire even more, especially on the defensive end. This is what JVG was talking about when he said he hoped Butler's arrival shakes up our current young talent a bit.

I haven't seen the press conference yet, but I listened to Butler's interview on Barriero today. Butler's impressive. Very smart and a real straight-shooter. Among other things, Butler said that he and KAT are flying to LA together, which will give them a chance to get to start bonding. Wiggins will be in LA and Butler said he expects to start getting to know Wiggins out there this summer. I wonder what Wiggins is thinking right now. I'd like to believe his reaction is similar to KAT's -- i.e., O.K., great. I'm happy to have this guy join the beat. But Butler's not going to eclipse me. I'll show him, Thibs and the fans what I'm made of.
