Wolves vs Rockets (It's playoff time!!!) GDT
Re: Wolves vs Rockets (It's playoff time!!!) GDT
Haven't watched the game yet, but looking at the box score did Rose take 14 shots and Towns only 9? That's not exceptible. Granted Rose shot well he should never be 2nd on the team in FGA.

Timberwolves now 2 for 18 from the field this season when tied or down 3 or less in the last 10 seconds of games.
Jimmy Butler is 0 for 12 in such spots.
Whether it's been execution or play calling (probably a mix of both) that's not good.
Ouch.

Great stat. I guess it's just going to take a while to recalibrate the pecking order on this team.

Yes, Gorgui was terrific.

Yep just saw that. Maybe it's time we try something different.

I think that, the offense could be better. But I also think that a lot of commentators should be focusing on the putrid defense, rather then the offense.
I think you're right. But here's an interesting stat. The Wolves lost 4 games this season they would have won if they had scored at least 100 points. They lost an additional 4 games they would have won if they had scored at least 103. That's 8 games they would have won by scoring at least 103 points. Add another 2 wins if they had scored at least 108. Another 4 wins if they had scored at least 109. Another 2 wins if they had scored at least 110.
So as bad as our defense was this season, we lost 4 games by failing to simply reach the 100 point threshold and another 4 by failing to score at least 103. There was definitely a path to 50+ wins in spite of our defensive problems. But yes, this team has to improve defensively.

The officiating was absolutely ridiculous, from the Greco Roman wrestling that they call screens on Butler, to the continual hacks on Wiggins. Every screen where they weren't holding they continue to move, and either didn't get called or they called our defender for a foul. The last play before Harden committed his foul on Wig, Tucker got a good grab in as well. I can't believe fouls they ignored. I also can't believe nobody on our team is man enough to stand up for the team against them. Thib's should have been ejected in the first half. How about having your players backs when it counts.
Houston still had a TS% of 56 so in game two we need to immediately send a weak side defender to help against the PnR with Capella. Tucker and Ariza shoot around 37% from 3, which isn't any better than the game 1 efficiency. We need to give Tyus more minutes, and less for Crawford.
I think Jimmy is still having trouble with his knee. He didn't seem to have an explosiveness whatsoever. Why he played more minutes than Wig, I have no idea.
Teague must be the worst passing PG in the league!

Probably the Wolves best shot to win a game in this series. If u told me Harden was putting up 40 I'd assume it was a blow out. I take some positives away from this game seeing as they matched Houston's intensity to the end. Unfortunately Harden got hot late and we don't have shooters to counter punch that.

Most of us didn't need a slowed down GIF to know this was a travel at the time (and it was his second travel of the night by the way that wasn't called). The refs had to have seen this and swallowed their whistle.
