I kind of feel like a second round pick and whoever for Stauskus and Okafor would have been a good haul for us. This seems like a sneaky good play for Brooklyn, no real downside. At least Okafor is going to be playing for a solid coach.
I love this trade for Brooklyn. I actually really like the job Sean Marks has done since taking over, really. He stole D'Angelo Russell, Allen Crabbe, and now Jahlil Okafor. Nik Stauskas has a place in this league. He'll also probably flip DeMarre Carroll for assets within the next six months. The cupboard was bare when Marks got there. Not so much now.

This is a deal that makes sense for both teams and IMO wouldn't make any sense for us. With the Nets Okafor has a legit shot to do something with his career. He wouldn't play here. I'd guess the Sixers tried to at least find a decent landing spot for him. What would the Wolves offer up to the Sixers? Cole Aldrich? They don't need another center and it would cost them money next year when they want cap space. Booker is a decent piece for them to help them win games this year. They have a bunch of 2nd rounders so it's almost like they don't need them all it's like a throw in. It's not hard to say that Booker right now is the best player in this trade. I bet there would be some other teams including the Wolves that would have been willing to give up something of moderate value like a 2nd rounder to get him from the Nets even as a rental.
Like has been said by others Marks has done a pretty good job adding talent and assets to this franchise that hardly had any. If they can get something out of Okafor that would be pretty nice. Now they have the 2nd and 3rd pick of that draft and basically got paid to take them on. #capspace
Stauskas is garbage, but Okafor could have been a big piece for us. We need a go-to guy on the second unit that isn't Crawford because he runs too hot and cold. This deal is just insane in my view. I can't believe how down people got on Okafor. He has a good NBA skill and he's only 21 years old. Booker for Okafor straight up is in favor of the Nets let alone getting a 2nd round pick. Booker's best year is 10/8 in 24 minutes. Okafor averaged 17.5/7 in his rookie year in 30 MPG's as a 19 year old. This is a home run for the Nets. I think what Okafor brings to the table would have been more valuable for what we need than what Dieng is giving us so far this year. The league is limited in the number of guys you can just give the ball to and get a bucket and Okafor is one of them. For a team with no top picks the Nets just got 2 top 3 picks for free. That's crazy.
Philly-Lakers game...crunch time. Why is Simmons not going under the Randle ball screens on Ball!? He keeps going over them, giving Ball a driving lane and forcing Embiid to come off Randle. Make Ball a shooter, not a passer!

Seems like it's worth a shot for Brooklyn, but for us - no thanks! The last thing we need is another defensive sieve like Okafor.
Dieng is statistically one of the worst rim protectors in the league year in and year out. At least Okafor doesn't get pushed around easily and he gives us something useful off the bench.
The Bulls are in overtime. In 37 minutes tonight, Dunn has 16 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals with only 1 turnover. Goodnight for Markkenan too.
The Nuggets beat the Magic tonight by over 10 points on the road without Millsap or Jokic. We struggled to beat a decimated Clippers team even though the only guy we were missing was Belly.
Why are we salivating over guys that are plsying on a 4-20 team. I think most rational observers would agree it is easier to put up meaningless stats on a losing team.
