Except lowry knows what hes doing. he pounds the ball, but he plays such a fast pace that he attacks and draws defenders to create for others or he'll throw up a 3. Hes the exact opposite of teague. teague pounds the ball without purpose then hesitates on a 3 ball in order to put up a contested floater. Defense isnt even close.
Teague is a good player, but he isnt exactly good for this team. Hes an older Schroeder..
And love that Poetl guy. hes the exact type of back up C you need behind KAT. UnfortunatelyDieng isnt it and I dont think Patton is that type of player either.
The LeBron-Irving version of the Cavs played a ton of iso ball. They were constantly looking for the right switches and matchups to take advantage of and it wasn't necessarily beautiful basketball. But we don't have LeBron or Irving. Butler isn't as good at iso ball as either of those guys. And KAT is great, but he needs someone to get him the ball.
Schroeder is a way better scorer than Teague. Teague might be a better PG in running a team...maybe.
Poetl is looking like that new complimentary big that teams are going to be looking for. Capela and Adams are the cream of the crop but Poetl moves really well. The Raptors have been able to find and develop some nice young talent even if some of it isn't super high end.
CC -- I was thinking the same thing watching this game tonight.
Thibs needs to take some lessons from Stevens.
We run basically the same things and the same types of motion.
Biggest differences are that they attack mismatches and they make quick decisions. when they get an open shot, they let it fly. Monroe or someone gets doubled, pass it out and attack or let it fly. When we pass it out, we dribble and dribble and dribble until the player decides what to do which eventually ends up with a contested iso.
Id love Bjelly or teague to just let it fly without thinking. But they always hesitate and gives the defense time to gather. The one guy that doesnt hesitate to let it fly is wiggins, but he isnt our most accurate shooter.
The thing is that Thibs has a roster built to create and attack mismatches and I think that's actually his vision. The problem is whether it's coaching or players (mix of both) they don't do it. If they did...damn it would be hard to stop this team even with some lack of shooting.

I've found myself pulling for New Orleans. Holiday has been incredible this series, but you can't say enough about what Rondo brings to that team. Tonight he provided 16 efficient points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. But beyond that, as you noted, he brought tremendous poise. He has a great feel for the game and elite ballhandling skills. I agree that Portland as a 3 seed was fool's gold. I've never been impressed by the their roster and was amazed at that streak they had to propel them into that position. They had already come back to earth at the very end of the season and it's showing thus far in the playoffs. It's fun to imagine what might have been if our Wolves had landed the 6 seed. Oh well. Maybe we can surprise Houston tomorrow night.
Portland was on a roll and they stalled a bit. They are also playing without Harkless who I believe was really rolling playing well for the a few weeks before getting hurt. I think more credit goes to the Pels for playing so well. So many guys are stepping up and playing well. It's good to see like Q said Mirotic is really doing well as an all around player. His defense looks worthwhile.

Good point, Monster. That's the disappointment and mystery with this team. As you suggest, it's probably a mix of coaching and players. But if this team could become elite at exploiting mismatches, it would be huge.

Oh one other thing I forgot to mention in the other thread is I thought Towns has been taking it down a notch complaining to the officials in the playoffs. There was one post last night he was going to go off but he clearly checked himself and handed the official the ball.

Yes, he has been much less demonstrative overall, whether it's complaining, flopping around, fist-pumping, etc.
