I agree. I actually think he can get buckets in crunch time. He's done it is whole career, including his college career where he did it as a freshman against top college competition in the NCAA tournament. He's showed flashes of it in a couple games this past season. I'm afraid the Wolves will end up trading him and have don't have enough confidence in Thibodeau and Layden to trust that we'll get enough value in return.

I don't get why people keep thinking Tyus isn't valued by this organization. Sure he should play more but you can say that about almost every bench player. Every year we hear about some Thibs guy taking minutes from him and every year Tyus is the backup PG. Remember too that Teague has been saying for months now Tyus should be playing more and Teague will actually take himself out of a game. I would bet Teague gets traded before Tyus.

I've never suggested that Tyus isn't valued by the organization. I'm afraid he may end up getting traded because I think he's more tradeable than others on our roster not named Towns or Butler and I think Thibodeau will be desperate to make trades this summer to win now and save his job. Teague won't be traded because there are very few if any teams who will consider him worth two more years at $19 million per year. We'd likely have to give up other assets to induce some other team to take his salary. It would be a move to reduce payroll and I don't see it happening because Teague was the guy Thibodeau wanted. Gorgui has a better chance of being traded than Teague, but Gorgui's contract makes it difficult to trade him as well. Tyus is a guy a lot of teams would like on a cheap rookie salary scale who won't command a huge salary to re-sign. I could see him getting traded along with our pick for a player Thibodeau wants or tossed in as a way to induce some other team to give us some value in return for Gorgui. My concern that Tyus might get traded reflects the value other teams will likely see in him; it doesn't suggest that our own front office fails to recognize that value.

I fault Thibodeau in his role as head coach for not giving more playing time to Tyus. Even Teague was pleading with Thibodeau to give more PT to Tyus and to put the two of them on the court at the same time. It doesn't mean Thibodeau the PBO doesn't value Tyus; I think he does. It's just the tunnel vision of a head coach who doesn't expand or alter his rotation.

Thanks for the response I see your angle and your concern but I still think Thibs values Tyus more than you are suggesting. Only time will tell but I think Tyus is unlikely to be going anywhere. I suppose he isn't untouchable but yeah neither one of us wants him to get moved.

I still think Tyus and Teague should switch slots in the rotation. Our bench as it is currently constructed needs an offensive catalyst. That ended up being Jamaal Crawford this past season. He won us a game or two, but probably helped contribute to losing a bunch too. Teague as 6th man would be far more effective than Crawford. Tyus can be a game managing PG with the starting unit since Butler and KAT are really the focal points. Teague may in fact play more minutes than Tyus and finish games for us, but I just feel like it would lead to a better fit for both players if they spent more time with the other unit.

I like the idea. My only concern is Tyus on the open 3P. He wasn't knocking them down enough late in the season. I like Tyus on the defensive end over Teague also, so that could help that end too. If Tyus can improve his jumper a bit, he could be solid enough to start.

Yup, it's a shot he has to make consistently along with his finishing around the rim. He's not far off. He has hit 35% of his 3's the last couple years and he is a really good free throw shooter (which often is an indicator of long range shooting potential). I would hope he can keep improving in this area given his age.

Yes, I'll be really disappointed if Thibodeau trades Tyus this summer. I actually think we agree completely on how much Thibodeau values Tyus - a lot. But, other than trading Wiggins, it's hard to see how Thibodeau and Layden make any personnel moves this summer that substantially improve the team without trading both Tyus and our #20 pick. The key to whether Tyus stays is whether Wiggins gets dealt. Trade Wiggins, Tyus stays. Keep Wiggins and Tyus goes. It think it's that simple -- unless Thibodeau is content to simply rely on the MLE and vet minimum exception to shore up the current roster.

I love the idea. But I don't see the stubborn Thibodeau doing this. It's really not outside the box, but Thibodeau want venture beyond the center of the box.
