By the way, my Dad is 81 and a loyal Wolves season ticket holder. Now God willing he still has plenty of good years ahead of him, but when a team goes through "the Process" and every year things get punted forward to the next year, what do you think a season ticket holder my Dad's age thinks? What might work on a guy's spreadsheet doesn't make a whole lot of sense to people paying for a competitive product!

(of course, may be my Dad and the Wolves are a poor example in this case! But even in the midst of our long playoff drought, there have been some occasional glimmers of competitiveness).

Q- Philly fans wanted this to happen because they got tired of being mediocre. Philly is a tough town, a title or bust town in that sense. Fans who attend games don't give a damn what your ultimate goal is. They just want you to win that night that you happen to be in attendance. Sixers have higher goals than just making the playoffs and being on that treadmill because they knew that stopped being fun. For that I don't blame them. If this results in a championship and a parade, you'll forget all about the tough times. We as Wolves fans can't relate because we generally don't put TC sports franchises through those kinds of expectations (the Vikings probably the closest)

Wildwolf, I live just outside of Philly, so I have a pretty good feel for the fans here. I would say most fans are fine with stripping a team down to the studs and going through a re-build. The problem with HInkie is it took too damn long. You can only churn through so many assets and keep losing sub 20 games for a season or two, not three years of pure misery. "The Process" took too long.

To be fair, part of what took Hinkie so long were unexpected long-lasting injuries to his two prize top picks - Embiid and Simmons.

In any event, all I know is that I would rather be a Sixers fan than a Wolves fan right now -- watching and rooting for Covington and their two young budding stars as they put up great stats while playing exciting, high energy basketball under an excellent head coach. One of their core stars is a 20-year old rookie, the other has less than a full season of NBA experience. Their #3 player, Covington, is only in his 4th season in the League. Yet, the Sixers have nearly the same record as the Wolves, whose core includes an experienced 28-year old veteran Butler as our presumed best all-around player, along with Wiggins in his 4th season and KAT in his 3rd. Then there are other experienced vets playing major roles in the Wolves rotation, including our starting PG, Teague, along with Gibson, Crawford and Belly. And let's not forget that the Sixers haven't even gotten anything our of Fultz yet.

I still like our core three and Embiid's heath remains a question. I'm also convinced that Thibs is not getting the most out of our players this season any more than he did last season. But I'd trade places with the Sixers' roster in a heartbeat, although I'd also insist on trading head coaches as well. :)

Embid has sat out for all or part of 3 years, Simmons for a full year due to injury. These are not good signs no matter how well they are playing now. No way on earth would I rather be a Sixers fan with all the uncertainty they face. Everyone needs to cool their jets on the sixers, it hasn't even been 20 games.

Something to consider...

LST I remember you telling me when last year that I was watching a Sixers game and how I liked what I saw out of Covington last year you telling me just wait and see and I would liekly not like what I saw if I watched more because he was bad. Abe has mentioned how he was getting booed by his own fans because he was shooting the 3 so poorly. I don't think its even been a year later and now he is considered a core piece going forward? Sure He had defensive prowess and previous 3 point successs but yeah. I'm not mentioning this to get a rise out of LST (I hope he actually chuckles reading this) its more saying we need more time to see how certain things play out. it was at about this time last year I think only Team Ricky wasn't willing to dump Rubio for next to nothing and then Rubio went on to have a career year. That was likely part of why the Jazz give up a 1st round pick for him which most of us would have been basically elated with a year ago. We only have what we have in front of us, but sometimes we do need to take a bit of a step back and let some more time play out.

To be fair, I thought it was ridiculous that they were booing him considering how hard he works, how effective he is defensively and how bad everybody was around him.

And he did hit the game-winning shot that game.

Agreed and I should have clarified more that I was only saying what you reported not your take on his game.

Fair enough. I just heard that they were able to put some money toward this current deal... so the new deal is really only $47M over 4 years.

So basically, Iman Shumpert/Matthew Delladova money.
