We are 22nd in % of field goal attempts taken from 0-3 feet and 29th from 3 point land. We are pretty much in the top 10 in shots from over 3 feet to less than a 3. So we are in the bottom 10 in the league in the two most desirable shot distances and top 10 in the least desirable. Wonderful.

Man, you have a hard-on for Terry Ryan. Feel free to seek help from a professional on it.
I'll try to explain "pitch-to-contact" for you. If you want a pitcher who "misses bat", it costs money. You can sign them as free agents, which cost money, or draft them after they are proven (read college) pitchers, so they command higher bonuses, which cost money. And since every batter south of Brownsville swings at everything, you have to be careful with Latins. And since walking everyone doesn't really help, he tells himself he believes in "pitch-to-contact", but really he believes in "pitch-to-miss" but comes a little short in accomplishing it.
Terry Ryan's boss the majority of his career was gentlemen by the name of Carl Pohlad. Since you haven't heard of him, let me help. His first job was delivering foreclosure notices during the depression. He is the only owner to lay off his office staff during MLB work stoppages. And he sometimes goes entire offseasons without signing free agents so he can funnel money into his banking business, either to cover losses or buy smaller banks. Remember: all Charlotte had to do was build a stadium, and they said no thanks. And when they do finally spend money, it's on a guy who went from 10 HR's to 28 while being totally PED-free and then back down to 10 after the ink was dry on his extension.
....and when you combine all this with a poor GM hire, like Bill Smith, it's a dumpster fire. They are just now coming out of it. Maybe cut the Twins some slack.
The Wolves have the exact opposite problem. They have an owner who will spend money who can't seem to get out of his own way when it comes to front office hires. Is there any proof that Thibs is REALLY into three's? His really good Bulls team was built on Rose penetration and Boozer. Flip? Yes I'm sure Payne is great at three's. And no need to go over Kahn again.

Where did that come from? Ha Ha.
Thanks for pointing out my Terry Ryan fixation. I'm sure others here were also thinking "When will Abe just shut up about Terry Ryan already."

You've taken shots at Ryan in the past, and Kahn's agreed with you, which should have been your first clue. Just remember: In the past 30 years, they Twins have had two really good GM's (POBO's?), one who is off to a good start, and one who was god-awful. If you need to stop following the Twins, that's your business. Just remember where the blame really lies.
Oh. I almost forgot the best part. After he screwed them up, He was ACTIVELY trying to get his team contracted because it would have paid better than selling it. AND, not many people remember this, he and Irwin Jacobs actively tried to purchase a majority share in the Vikings back in the late '80s, so he could bring his, um, cost-conscious management style to the best team in the market, which led directly to the Herschel trade. Very warm where Carl is right now.

Are you part of the Ryan family?
Other than that... it's downright creepy that you (1) remember me ripping on him (2) and thinking I have some weird fascination with him. I honestly have never had much of an opinion on Terry Ryan. Maybe you have me confused with somebody else?

So you were all in on Terry Ryan....until you started this thread?
If you feel having a better memory than yours is "creepy", I imagine you find a lot of people creepy. Let me refresh your memory: In another T-wolves post, you took a shot at Ryan, because we all know you are way better at your chosen profession than Ryan could ever hope to be. I pointed out how off base you were. Khans (clue alert) took your side, saying Ryan sucked for trading Future Hall of Famers Denard Span and Ben Revere, forgetting that Bill Smith traded an actual star in Carlos Gomez, and then Khans blamed the Nishioka signing on Ryan when it was Bill Smith. A banner day for all. It looked like what a Breitbart sports page would look like.
I also said this: If you want to think you could do a better job with the Wolves than Thibs/Flip/Kahn/Mchale/McClosky/Mckinney, then have at it. Many of us could. After all, the NBA is about 15 roster spots. MLB is about ONE-HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FIVE roster spots. Couple that with one of the three worst ownership families in sports, and if anybody can have ANY success, they probably know their thing.

Dafuq is all that?
You HAVE to be related to the guy. I have no idea (1) what you're rambling on about (2) why you remember it in such painstaking details... allegedly (3) think that it's part of some larger anti-Ryan campaign.
Weird. Just weird.
[Note: If Jason is THIS upset about two random, maybe not even sharp criticisms about Terry Ryan... I guess I should feel lucky he isn't related to Rashad McCants, M. Beasley, Sidney Lowe or even Andrew Wiggins.]

Jason comes to the wolves board time to time and always seems like he wants to go off on people

He's always been a bit of a hot-head, dating back to the ESPN days, but the bizarro factor here is unusually high.
