CoolBreeze's 2 Things I Didn't Like Tonight Plus 1
Wow, I wish I had a ticket like some of you did. Largest crowd to ever see a Wolves game at TC. I hope this a preview of things to come for this franchise. One thing is for certain, our Wolves are getting better and tonights win is more proof of that. Here is the "It's been too long" version of the 2 + 1:
1) Wig plays a poor first half, and Towns plays a terrible 2nd half. Just how did we win this game? And then both guys combine to miss 4 straight free throws at crunch time. If our stars had played full games this one probably wouldn't have been as close as it was.
2) Golden State had a 13-0 run in the 4th quarter. You expect a great team to make a run, but we need to find a way to stop the bleeding before it gets that bad. I know it's part of being a young team and part of the maturation process, but still we found a way to make it harder on ourselves than we should have.
Plus 1 - Ricky Rubio was the real "Warrior" tonight. He played so hard and his leadership was simply outstanding. We don't have a chance to win that game if Ricky was playing for the Knicks. I can't be more emphatic about how important he was. Very happy he's still a Wolve, and impressed with the way he is playing since the trade deadline.
Special mentions:
- lt wasn't always pretty but you have to hand it to Andrew in the clutch again. His ability to get to the tin and to the line helped win the game. He also had an outstanding 3rd quarter and made big baskets throughout the 2nd half.
- Dunn and Tyus didn't play a lot, but they gave us just enough to allow Ricky to get his rest and not lose ground when he was out. It's cool having a guy like Dunn who you can put on Klay or Steph and know he's going to hold his own.
- Bazz played within himself and chipped in when he was given the chance. I love that he wants to stay with this team. I hope we reciprocate.
- Let's give it up to Thibs. He's got this team believing in themselves. We weren't great tonight, but somehow we beat the top team in the conference. Thibs has to get a lot of credit for the turnaround.
And that's Cool's 2 things I didn't like tonight Plus 1.

Good to see this back. Still amazed at this game. We faded Towns' worst half of the season, 4 straight missed free throws in the end, and still found a way to win.
Two observations:
1) That loose ball scramble where both Rubio and KAT dove on the floor was probably the play of the season. It didn't result in points because Wiggs biffed two free throws, but it took time off the clock and energized the crowd. It just showed the fight that this team is now playing with--they just wanted it more than the Warriors on that play. And also it might have been the only positive play Karl made in the entire quarter, lol.
2) The defense on the last play was stellar. They forced an inbounds to Iguodala, then Rubio denied the ball to Curry, taking seconds off the clock, then when Curry got it Ricky poked at it and made him fumble it, then the second Curry had an opening Dunn sprang in there for well-timed help, freezing him, and as soon as Ricky recovered he jumped back to his own man. Then to finish it off Ricky stayed in front of Curry and forced the long contested two. Yeah, Steph could have made it, but you live with that look and most important there was no time for another shot after Rush grabbed the board. Just an awesome defensive possession by our two defensive minded point guards. And it points to the fact that when we need a stop at the end of games Dunn should be on the floor.
Anyway, a huge win, the team is growing up before our eyes, and while I still don't think they will make the playoffs, this run bodes well for next season. They are looking legit, and Lavine isn't even in the fold.

Awesome win! Gotta keep rolling now. If we pull this off, a first round series with the Warriors should be fun if we play well. That team is in a slump and upset at calls last night (sometimes understandably, but there were missed calls on both sides). But that was a chippy game last night in part because we were aggressive on both ends. McGee, Pachulia, Green, all three of those guys were obviously agitated at us too. Green totally deserved that tech. He lost his cool. That's a somewhat dirty play from a player who has a tendency for dirty plays. That's also a good sign if we can agitate a good team. I hope if we make the playoffs we can match the physicality of their bigs and not back down. I also hope we can make our FTs in crunch time. Man, almost threw that one away. Next up!

This game might be one to look back on in the coming years. Both Wiggins and Towns played "poorly" in this game. I used parentheses to note that their "poor" play is still pretty good.
Is it just me, or has the Minnesota Nice been scrubbed off this team lately? A great example last nite was the T on Green for the late shove of Kat. Kat took the blow, then just walked away. Then bullied up on Green on the other end to let him know he was there. The dirty plays by Zaza led to the monster spike block by Kat. It looks to me like the Wolves are chippy within the rules...

Starting to take the personality of their coach

One thing I thought was interesting is that Thibs went with Tyus over lance. I was pleasantly surprised by this. Tyus is finally in the rotation

I agree but wouldn't you have liked to see Lance go up against Barnes? That would have been fun, if even for just a couple minutes.

A felony might have been committed. Better to avoid that.
