LaVine and a 1st?

I dunno. Portland's problem is defense right now and I don't see how LaVine helps with that.

I think you would have to add Ricky to that mix. And I'm not even sure that gets it done.

Yeah, I guess I was assuming the pick was gonna be top 5 in a loaded draft...

Great. Now, i have to start a new thread...

I have no way of knowing whether he would... or wouldn't. But I've heard where he might be trying to find a way out behind the scenes... as in having his agent leak the story.

Any possibility to that?

Jon K tweeted recently that he has the sense Rubio wants to stay. The sense I have gotten from what Tubio has actually said and stuff from people who actually talk to Rubio like Jon K is he actually likes it here. Could that change is he is like the 3rd or 4th PG on the roster or even backup? Sure. What i do know is I have read Rubio's representation hasn't been thrilled with him wanting to be here. His agent Dan Fegan has gotten fired from some high profile guys in the last couple years. Until I hear otherwise I'm giving the benefit of the doubt towards Rubio wanting to stay here...like I said for now. The reality is that it's very possible he will end up as a backup on another team. Like Jon K that may be easier to do on another team (plus the fit might be better since Dunn isnt a shooting wizard so far) but this could be a special roster to be a part of as well. I guess all I am saying is that I think it's actually a possible outcome. Do I expect it to happen? Not really but I think it's possible.

Don't think I'd give up LaVine and the first-rounder. Was thinking it'd have to be a several player trade.

C.J. McCollum, Mason Plumlee, and Maurice Harkless for Andrew Wiggins, Ricky Rubio and our 2017 pick?

Portland:

Lillard - Rubio
Crabbe - Turner
Wiggins - Turner
Aminu - Vonleh
Leonard - Davis (Ezeli?)

Wolves:

McCollum - Dunn
LaVine - Rush (re-sign?)
*Free Agent* - Harkless
Towns - Bjelica
Plumlee - Dieng

I'm just throwing shit out there.

It feels like to me if Portland was going to give up a player like CJ they would want a real impact big in return since they don't really have one. When Mason Plumblee is probably your most important big (love the guy) that's where they need to upgrade as they already have like 37 wing players. The Wolves don't have a player like that as they aren't giving up Towns in a deal for CJ.

Having said that would Portland have interest in CJ for Wiggins? I would think they would have to consider that. I don't think the Wolves would consider moving Wiggins at this time even if it was for CJ and a guy from the Blazers that could be their SF. It's an interesting angle though.

I still say keep building what we have espcially since the Wolves could end up with another top draft pick that could fill a hole in the starting roster. I know it's another young player but what if that guy is good right away? Nobody will be complaining about how young he is. Obviously they could make a move to get a FA also. Keep building quit this carousel of roster turnover and see what happens.

Timberwolves have shown interest in PJ Tucker among other teams. It doesn't sound like they are going to just give him away so I doubt he comes to MN but some other team might give up something...you never know.

Would anyone entertain the following:

Wolves: Wiggins / Option to swap first rounders for Brooklyn's #1 in 2017 draft

Boston: Crowder

With the PG's available in this draft, essentially securing Fultz, Ball or Smith is worth it IMO. None of those guys fit with Boston if they keep Thomas. Crowder is on a steal of a deal for next 3 seasons and makes us a better defensive team. Boston gets another marquee name, and they seemingly have Jaylen Brown to take over role of Crowder in future seasons.

Just a thought.

For a team trying to win now... it can be argued Crowder (and on a great contract) has more value than Wiggins. And then a top 5 (possibly #1) pick as well?

Boston doesn't need a marquee name. They need guys who can help a 53-win team win 60 games. There's no proof that Wiggins is that guy. At least not for what they have to give up to find out.

I'm not really in favor of the deal proposed, but if we're playing along, the Celtics have had strong ties to Jahlil Okafor even since his hype meter has fallen flat. I think they'd absolutely have interest in Wiggins if he was offered.

But I think Ainge is also a smart man and if he can get Fultz, which he might, then he'd be better off.
