They also added a big stretch big so they added some shorting in that regard. They also added Morrow.
Overall those 3 players in theory fit what that team needs and could fit into what Hoiberg was hired to do from the beginning. I am surprised they gave up McBuckets and Taj but maybe it's time to see some other young bigs like Portis get more time too.
It's just amazing the way the Thunder has been able to build up their team losing Durant and it's got a lot of young talent and man with Gibson...they could be a heck of an out in the playoffs. It's also a. If team with just 3 guys on the roster listed under 6'6"
I cannot understand at all Payne trade from Chicago's perspective. Unless there is a rule that teams should always overpay when they trade for player with second name of Payne, that trade doesn't make any sense for Chicago. I don't see that Payne is necessarily much better prospect than Jerian Grant that they already have. Payne is two years younger, so maybe he has little higher upside. But to give up McBuckets, Gibson and 2nd rounder for Payne and scrubs is way too much.
If or when OKC inserts Gibson to their starting power forward, they have a heck of defensive lineup with Adams, Gibson, Roberson and Oladipo around Westbrook. Of course in offensive end that lineup would lack badly outside shooting but bench with McDermott and Kanter wouold have couple of nice offensive players.
I can't remember the podcast I was listening to (I can't remember what one what is annoying) but it said there is a divide in the Bulls locker room you have the butler/wade side and then their is the rondo side. In the podcast it said McDermott was not the most like guy in the locker room and they tried to trade mirotic really hard because he is a rondo guy and him and Butler don't get along.
So I am guessing they wanted to get something for Gibson because he is a free agent and they agreed to trade McDermott because he was not a part of the Bulls preferred locker room.
I think this was a trade that was more about chemistry than Xs and Os and we don't get to see how players mesh with eachother in everyday setting.
On the Zach Lowe podcast he talked about how Cousins ruined Stauskas with his he basically bullied him and I never heard that until he got traded.
So from am Xs and Os point terrible trade for the Bulls but McDermott is not talented enough to pick him over team chemistry
