Trade market and trade hype thread
Re: Trade market and trade hype thread
Did someone just say they would still likely trade wiggins for crowder straight up right now? Man oh man.

If you compare LaVine and CJ's NBA stats at the same age. LaVine has a huge advantage. No way would I trade him or Wiggins straight up for CJ. I would offer them Rubio, Dieng, and Dunn though. I am sure they would laugh at us.

You would move Wiggins for McCollum but not Lavine?
I'd discuss/consider it, yeah. I don't necessarily think that I'd ultimately do a one-for-one deal, but if it was a package like I mentioned earlier...
And as stated numerous times, I'm very much in on Zach LaVine. He's got the juice.

If we are going to trade rubio, I think we can go all direction. We don't necessarily need a point guard in return. We need upgrades at every position. From a pf better than dieng to a legit 3rd wing to another big.
I would look to keep the team intact for the rest of the season. Maybe sign a free agent to fill up the spot left by lucas. The off season is where I will look to make a move.
Any interest in ibaka? He will probably cost 20m or more to sign next season but I would consider trading rubio+dieng for him in a sign and trade scenario in the off season. We have to absolutely nailed our draft pick next season. We need to draft the BPA regardless of position as we need upgrades at all positions.
For this season, I prefer to keep the team intact. We are not going to make the playoff regardless of what we do. Thibs only play 9 guys anyways. Just focus on developing the core 3 and hope we can increase rubio, dieng and bazz's trade value for next season. Except tyus, the 5-6 guys that don't play are likely not going to be here next season.

I get it sounds crazy. But this isn't a video game. Wiggins gets a "potential superstar" label, but have you ever seen a true impact guy that does absolutely nothing but score? His elite athleticism should automatically make him an absolute stud defender and rebounder.....but we get far from even good numbers from him despite his physical gifts. I actually think it's debatable on who is the better player between Wig and Crowder. Some of you think it's funny, but when talking team success, many Boston pundits have said that Crowder is one of their most important players. And they are at the top of their conference. Crowder impacts the game in many ways. Heck, even when Wig scores 20, I often find myself feeling like it was a bit empty.
And yes, I also am weighing in salary and value. Crowder will make about $7MM per season for the upcoming 3 years. We have Wiggins locked up at $7.5MM next season, and then will jump to nearly $30MM. He will certainly get a max deal, and I would NOT pay him that type of money for his skillset and impact.
My personal opinion is that on name value, the trade sounds terrible. But fit and impact, it looks very reasonable to me.

There's absolutely, positively, without question, no debating it, zero reason to do a sign-and-trade for an unrestricted free agent that you have the cap space to sign outright. We'd be causing more problems than fixing them.
But yes, myself and doper seem to be in favor of going after Ibaka. I believe Abe said he'd help, but he thinks he could possibly get a max contract. And LST I believe is in favor of bargain shopping again this off-season, which of course means no Ibaka.

Cam, your right. We can and should try to sign ibaka outright first. I was just thinking that we need to cut dieng's salary down the line. I was also thinking that we can add another player from the magic as rubio+dieng will be 30m and Im not going there for ibaka. An augustin or hezonja will be nice.

Im not going to debate you with wiggins vs crowder. i will say this. Those boston pundits that said crowder is one of their most important player will trade him for wiggins in a second.

Boy, the talk of trading one of our big 3 for good starter/non-all-star level players is a little baffling. The patience is clearly thin on this board. We have the youngest trio ever to score 20 points each per game and people want to break it up for a few more wins today. It's going to be a legit big 3. You just have to let it mature. I've said it before and I'll say it again. 21 year olds don't run this league. Just wait until they're 23-24-25. They're going to be a great trio. In 2-3-4 years our guys are just going to be better than the other names brought up here.

When you're right you're right. And in this case you are on point.
