Re: Are contenders or pretenders? Blazers GDT
With Portland and Minnesota only 2 and 3 1/2 games out of the playoffs, it's likely that last night's game will have to be replayed. I checked the NBA schedule, and there are only three dates that neither team plays or having to play a makeup game would cause either or both teams to play three games on consecutive nights. Here they are:
3/26: The teams play each other in Portland the previous night and both have the 27th off, so I think this is the most likely date. Both teams would be equally disadvantaged having to fly across country for the game. A worse solution (but probably one Portland will suggest to the league) is that the two teams remain in Portland to play on the 26th...obviously bad for the Wolves because we lose a home game, but logistically more sound and perhaps fair since the Wolves are at fault here.
April 2: This would be best for the Wolves, because they have a home game the night before, and Portland would have to fly here after their home game.
April 3: The NBA never schedules games on the night of the NCAA championship game, so this one works. The Wolves would be disadvantaged because they need to travel to GS for a game the next night (and would result in the Wolves having to play 4 games in 5 nights) while Portland has 4/4 off. I'm guessing Portland will lobby for this date, since they have the day before and after off, but it would be bad for the Wolves.
Let's hope the league picks 4/2, although none of the dates are ideal for the wolves.

I thought the Blazer forfeited this game.

No, they called the game using beer league rules, once you're down by 105 points they award the other team the victory.

I'm disappointed that Gerald Glass couldn't get off the bench in a game like this.

Could be, but that injury is no joke. I cracked my tailbone in a "pick-up" hockey game as a teenager, and to this day have trouble sitting more than an hour.
Truth is, I just really wanted to join in the fun, and it was either going to be Glass or a Shelton Jones reference.
A thread like this would have been more fun if it was for the Magic. {Boy, that play where Dwight Howard, Anderson Varajao, and Ryan Anderson all fought over that rebound and lost it out of bounds was really embarrassing!}

To be fair when I first thought up that Gerald Glass joke I was...um a little younger. Any joy that comes from those early Wolves years is nice to relive I think. I sorta liked Gerald Glass actually. That sucks about your injury. I have a friend that I haven't seen him sit down for maybe as much as a year because of some odd injury. It can't be good.
