I'm still all for moving Wiggins and something else for Butler. Wishful thinking, I know. Wiggins just doesn't have the fight, nor the frame to be a 3. If Wiggins and LaVine are both destined to being 2's, then I choose to keep LaVine as he has the skillset that will be more complimentary to a whole team moving forward.

Wiggins has or will have enough physical ability to play the SF position. That's really not what will hold him back. It's the mental aspect of the game to be worried about.

Sacramento is really the only option that would trade for a guy like Ricky right now to make a playoff push. Teams like Philly will probably have a high enough spot to land one in the draft. The deal that makes the most sense to me is Ricky goes to Sacramento, Rudy Gay goes to PHX and we get Knight and another young piece or a pick from either team like WCS or Skal.

I don't see why the Suns would give up Knight to get a couple months of Gay. Sidenote I was looking at the Suns roster earlier today I can't believe PJ Tucker is already 31 and turns 32 in May. The Weird thing about the Kings is they have all those bugs and yet the only sure thing they have is Cousins...and to some extent Koufus.

I bet one team that would love Rubio for this season because he might sadly be an upgrade is the Bulls. The problem is you would have to take back Rondo to match salaries and I don't know what asset you would get back worth dealing Rubio. Plus you would have to put up with Rondo even if it was a buyout situation. I know Rondo and Thibs has history but Rondo hasn't stuck anywhere for the last 3 years and I think I would prefer to avoid him on my team unless it was a veteran team which obviously this isn't. Lol

Really? The Suns wouldn't trade their backup combo guard already on the market for a starting SF to test out for a few months in their biggest hole on the team? And then you say the Bulls who have a serious spacing issue and have two ball dominant players in Wade and Butler should get Ricky who doesn't space the floor and needs the ball to be effective? I disagree with both your points.

1. Gay isn't some great unknown. His strengths/weaknesses are well known.
2. The Suns aren't in the business of more wins right now.
3. Why not just sign Gay this summer and take advantage of #2? And, trade Knight for a different asset?

Ya, Gay is more likely to sign with the worst team in the West this summer than re-sign with them after getting some playing time with them. How is the worst team in the West going to make a FA splash? They aren't. Your only chance is to trade for that guy so you can work with him before anyone else and use your advantages like bird rights to keep him. These bad teams don't have the option to just wait until the off season to sign players because they are at the bottom of the totem pole. Gay fits with their current pieces more than Knight and their only chance to land a guy like him is to get him on the team now and they'd only be giving up a piece on the trading block anyway. This idea of "just sign them in the off season" seems to get way overused here. Bad teams don't just get to sign whoever they want.

I'm not claiming they'd get him.

I just don't think getting him in a tanking season for 2 months is going to be enough to entice him to stay there. Maybe that's a new angle for crappy teams though. It's just not a very common angle.

Notice I said Rubio might be an upgrade. The last I looked the Bulls PGs were shooting pretty badly...Rubio might be an upgrade at least defensively and he is signed for a while... Sure it's not a no brainer but it's not like the other guys seem to be the answer either. Like I said it's more about how badly that position is for the Bulls than how good Rubio is or even the fit which obviously is not great.

If the Suns would give up Knight (or the Wolves would give up Rubio) for Gay the Kings would accept so fast it wouldn't be funny. If Gay isn't happy with the Kings why the heck would he consider resigning with the Suns? Gay simply doesn't have enough value around the league because he will be a FA to be giving up anything of moderate value to get him.

If the Knicks -- Phil Jackson -- are able to work out a deal with the Clippers, I'd hope Thibs is one of the first to make an offer for Courtney Lee. Bargain contract. Very good role player on both ends. New York would have little reason to keep him or Joakim Noah.

You want the guy that got benched in favor of Ron Baker? :)

Melo says he wants to stay in NY. I've been hearing for years that's where he wants to play. I'll be a little surprised if he is moved but your thought of him going to the Clippers makes some sense although I don't know what the Clippers are really going to give up to get Melo.

The Knicks really need to blow their roster up and build around Portzingis. But knowing them they'll resign Rose to a max deal, keep Carmelo and be a train wreck again for the next ten years.
