The deal that actually has me the most heated is the OKC - Chicago deal. Gibson, McDermott and a 2nd round pick for essentially Payne and scraps. Outside of the fact the bridge is probably burned for any deal with them because of Thibs, how do we not sneak in there and go Tyus, Bazz and Hill (to give them a big) for Gibson, McDermott and another piece or pick (possibly a 1st given how much better our offer is than OKC's)? McBuckets would give us the shooter we need in Zach's absense and Gibson would give us the defensive big we need next to Towns and Dieng. I get we could sign Gibson in the offseason, but it'd be nice to get him in now to help stabilize the frontcourt and Bazz is likely gone in the offseason anyway so that's essentially a swap of expirings. Tyus for McBuckets swaps a deep position for a thin one and gives us a shooter next to Wiggins and Stephenson for the rest of the year and gives us shooting off the bench next year that doesn't have a black hole issue and is under contract for much cheaper than Bazz will be asking for. That deal is grand theft larceny for OKC given how little Payne has shown to date. If you told me at the beginning of last offseason they would turn Ibaka and Payne into Gibson, Oladipo, McBuckets and Sabonis I would be shocked.

But yeah, in the meantime, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and we are stuck in between since we're tired of being poor, but aren't rich yet either.

I'm glad New Orleans got Boogie. It seems so fitting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agcnpnSPEQQ

It will be fun to watch AD and Cousins together. I don't mind that the competition is getting better. If we can't beat the Pelicans and Dallas, we don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

I don't really see Dallas getting Noel was stealing him away. It was a good move but they did give up some stuff to get him and will have to pay him some money. Honestly it was probably a good trade for both teams at this point.

Yeah, it was "Hercshel Walker" kind of debut... ;-)

Payne is the theoretical PG that the Bulls lack. Kahns makes a good point he hasn't shown a whole lot yet but it seems a number of NBA folk think the guy can be a good starting PG. I tend to agree that he has that potential but it's obviously not certain.

They also added a big stretch big so they added some shorting in that regard. They also added Morrow.

Overall those 3 players in theory fit what that team needs and could fit into what Hoiberg was hired to do from the beginning. I am surprised they gave up McBuckets and Taj but maybe it's time to see some other young bigs like Portis get more time too.

It's just amazing the way the Thunder has been able to build up their team losing Durant and it's got a lot of young talent and man with Gibson...they could be a heck of an out in the playoffs. It's also a. If team with just 3 guys on the roster listed under 6'6"

Stein: The Knicks walked away after the Wolves weren't willing to give up Andrew Wiggins as part of their quest to dump Ricky Rubio's horrific contract and bad attitude for former MVP and future Hall of Fame point guard Derrick Rose.

The Truth: The Wolves talked to NYK along with a number of other teams and couldn't find anything that would give them fair value in return for Rubio.

Rubio's whole NBA career should teach fans to be skeptical of reports about him. This year it was Thibs Rubio because he isn't his type of PG and wants to dump him. There were reports Thib's just wants to get the deal done for Rose. Also there were reports they just wanted Rose to dump Rubio's salary (then it's reported after the deadline the Wolves balked and a straight up Rubio for Rose deal). Even the good national guys have reported things that don't seem to be accurate.
Who had McBuckets on the trade block?

Khans, I agree that okc got a great trade deal done. Gibson and Mcdermott are exactly the type of players okc needs and they got them. What a move for them.

If we could get them for the deal you proposed i would love to but it basically comes down to payne vs tyus and I believe payne has the better potential of the two to be a starter. If I were the bulls, il take okc offer as well.

Tyus is 2 years younger and I think shown more improvement since they both got in the league. Payne's stats have pretty much all gone down on a per minute basis since last year while Tyus' have pretty much all gone up. I think Tyus is very underrated in this league. I don't get why people don't see it. The guy protects the ball and makes the right play and can go on a scoring run if needed. Payne is virtually the same size as Tyus so there isn't a significant defensive advantage he's gonna have over him. I think Tyus will be better when all is said and done.

How much has Payne's injury set him back? Remember, he's coming back from a broken foot.

He showed legit flashes last season. Still dig the trade for OKC.

Yeah, even tough Noel hasn't shown much in offensive end, I wouldn't be surprised if Carlisle will be able to integrate Noel to offensive end to take Tyson Chandler like role as screen setter and roller in pick and roll plays. Then he finishes season by averaging double double with 70% FG% while anchoring Dallas defense. It really seems to me that Dallas have been able to rebuild while staying relatively competitive. Next summer they can even add one max player to their team without any problems with salary cap.

I cannot understand at all Payne trade from Chicago's perspective. Unless there is a rule that teams should always overpay when they trade for player with second name of Payne, that trade doesn't make any sense for Chicago. I don't see that Payne is necessarily much better prospect than Jerian Grant that they already have. Payne is two years younger, so maybe he has little higher upside. But to give up McBuckets, Gibson and 2nd rounder for Payne and scrubs is way too much.

If or when OKC inserts Gibson to their starting power forward, they have a heck of defensive lineup with Adams, Gibson, Roberson and Oladipo around Westbrook. Of course in offensive end that lineup would lack badly outside shooting but bench with McDermott and Kanter wouold have couple of nice offensive players.
